Rear Light Clusters - How Do I?

i believe the clusters new from toyota are about 90 a pair, youve got one on your car allready, so were talkin 270 for the other 3 pairs if you go to yota!!!!! then if you want the proper silvervision bulbs that are silver till they light up, theyre about 20 a pair!!! so 300 plus quid!!!

best thing to do is scour the scrappies, theres loads of rear damaged supes out there, n if the clusters damaged the scrappy'll probly give you it, n its only the clear lense you need, so it dosent matter how knackered the cluster is!

an easyer route is to get another pair of clusters then you can have clear red red clear clusters, thats what im doing but with facelift lenses, theyre much nicer, but alot more expensive, infact the jap pre facelift might have gone up in price recently as well,

general rule of thumb, you'd have to be daft to buy the clusters new, but it isnt an easy task finding them scrap either coz everyone wants em.

keep an eye on the soon to be started dude thread for my modded rear clusters, theyre gonna look way better than dudes all clear ones, (assuming he dosent sabotage them!!! :) )

Ha, ha £150 for a set of rear light! :D

Scrap yards do make me laugh, you could get the facelight rear lights for less than that brand new.

Reminds of the scrap yard that wanted £1000 for a standard bonnet and told me they sell them all day long at that price and I couldn't get one from Toyota, and the UK bonnet would never fit!

There name was Jap parts so for reference don't bother calling them.

not sure you can anymore mate, there was a price hike on the facelift, or could have been all the jap spares from yota in november.

smaller scrappies are best for decent prices, and remember you dont need full clusters, just the clear lenses from inside, so knackered clusters are best, much cheaper n easyer to get into!

What you all want is some facelift headlights!!!! They look great, much better than the normal Jap lights, and even better than UK lights. There what i'm saving for anyway. You can get them for $800 so the way things are at the moment in America thats about £400-£450

why dont you just take your uk lights apart and spray them like matt harwood did. that way you have the look of the facelift lights with the superior glass lenses and a saving of about £395-£445. makes much more sense to me

by the way oxy. i picked up uk taillight from toyota this morning. it cost £46 + vat for one oviously, so just over £100 all in for a pair.

£60 SOUNDS WAY TO MUCH FOR DAMAGED LIGHTS. EVEN THOUGH YOU DONT NEED THE LENSE

60 for damaged clusters, not bad, depends how much you want them, its 40 better than new ones, you might be able to bargain them down though, (im assuming 60 for the pair right?) make sure theyre the right type though, facelifts would be no good for you coz theyre different!

and if youve got a j spec you need another set of j specs for clear red red clear,

that or youre gonna need 2 more pairs for the full clears.

Paul, couldnt agree more on the facelift rears, but as for the fronts, ive got a set and a set of UKs, the UKs look much better on the car if you ask me, - depends on the colour of the car though i guess...

right so if I use my current set of clusters (or is taht not a good plan)

how many sets of jap spec and uk spec lights do I need to get, im sorry to be blonde again, its just been a very long day..?

if I use my current clusters surely I can get away with only buying one of each set...?

or is it best I keep my original set just in case...

youre a j spec, so another set of j specs would allow you to go clear red red clear, which looks pretty good, especially since you can get rid of the ugly red light with the reflector in it,

but you'd have to use the set you have on the car, - so be carefull you dont melt it!!!

to go fully clear you need 2 jap and 2 UK.

The facelift headlights are so much different to people's who are sprayed!! The lense is clear for a start, and there a gunmetal colour. You could never spray them to look the same. If you stood them next to each other you'd see what i mean!! Allthough it is a cheaper and effective option....

Right

McCarthy have given me the price for the Jap lights of £48.

they cannot give me the uk price coz EPC is playin up, so they are gonna call me back.

So I will will order 2x japs= £96

They said the UK ones shouldnt be any different price wise. So im looking at apossible just over £200 for the conversion, going on I use my current clusters.
