Guest mk47
so there i am minding my own business driving at 30 or under, and i noticed a police car has been following us for atleast half a mile now. i knew id be getting pulled sooner or later, and as i reach a fly over they flash their lights and pull me over - ON the flyover. no idea why at this point. so i get out meet and greet, and he asks "do you know why we stopped you?" to which i reply "um no?" "well.. your tints are too dark - actually illegal" so i just say damm i had no idea, and the other officer proceeds to ask me if im drunk. i explain no im not, infact i dont drink at all which amazed him. anyway so he says take a seat in the car while we do some checks, at the same time asking me all about the car "wow thats a nice car is that a turbo?" nice colour etc etc which was nice of them to show interest. as i sat inside he takes my details to ring through, and while thats being done the other officers asks me so what mods you got then? explained and he seemed pretty chuffed. he wouldnt believe me that its a tt and at my age i own one, which i found amusing, but at this point he completely switched and starts to interrogate me.. "so what do you do for a living? how much do you pay insurance? how do you afford this car? arent you too young for a car like this?" i found that quite offensive but none the less answered all his qs. and was sent on my way so thats my experience with the police. first time ive been pulled in the tt, and in the n/a a record of only 2 times in a year. sooo.. how often do you guys get pulled? i bet its more than likely the younger ones within us who get pulled alot. Gazboy
Hardly ever get a tug. Last time was for a 'with keys' burglary. They thought I had pinched it after doing over a house. Once they'd established who I was and that I was straight, we shot the breeze for ten minutes, mainly because one of the other coppers has been looking into getting one. Three panda cars (Astras), a meat wagon, some bikes and the chopper on standby for little ol' me. I never saw the bikes or the chopper (which was a mile away) but I was assured they were there when I asked "how the hell are you going to catch a runner in a Supra with an Astra?". Props to the plod.
Scoboblio
Only been pulled over once in the supra, but I was asking for it really (speeding but not excessively and certainly not in any dangerous way). Really polite and friendly guys who warned me to check whose behind me next time I put my foot down I got breathalised which came back nill.... had it not I think it would've been a very very different story. Muffleman
Only been pulled once in my entire life, I was driving a 21 year old Triumph 1500 - was I speeding ? Was the car even capable of speeding ? I put a car in a ditch once, backwards at circa 60mph, which took some doing. Anyway, the police turned up, breathalysed me and then promptly buggered off when it didn't turn red ! Not so much as a 'can we call anyone ?' 'Are you okay ?' etc etc Nope, couldn't arrest me so wasn't interested in anything else

Lewis
never been pulled, had my first supra at 21 I think, I would expect to be pulled because I do look a bit dodgy but they never have *touch wood* I think it boils down to driving style, whether you appear agitated when you notice them etc etc. Class one might be able to give a bit more info, there are certain things they look for. Most of my family are po's and I never realy thought to ask them. I do have an uncle in customs and for them it is always the shoes they look at, there will be something similar for car drivers. RobSheffield
i have only been pulled once in the supra, had no tax or reg number on the car, i was on the way back from having its first MOT, before its first UK registration. i saw the car, he saw me and wheelspun around a roundabout to catch me he bustled up thinking he had me, and i proceeded to explain, showed him my new cerificate, and he was ok i have had 4 cars follow me on the same piece of road, very intimidating, but they did not stop me im only 25, and a lot of people say i only look about 19, but i dont get too much attention [quickly touching wood to unjinx myself]
BASHTHEBISHOP
Have been pulled over many times but not in the sup yet. My favourite experience was whilst travelling to Newquay in a hire car about 5yrs back. Having just joined the A30 from the M5 i was doing about 85-90 leptons and went passed a slip road where i just caught glimpse of a white car in my mirror coming up the slip road. I eased off whilst in direct view just to try and identify if it was a plod car. I wasnt sure so everytime i went round a bend i floored it again just to try and see if he was following me. This went on for about 5miles eventually the car sped up significantly and yes it was... He pulled me over and came to my window asking if it was my car to which i pointed out it was a hire car. He commented with a smile on his face 'goes well doesnt it sir'. Anyway he gets me to sit in his car whilst checking me out and says that he doesnt know how i managed to average 89leptons over the last 5miles but whenever he had me in direct view i wasnt doing more than 75. He was a sound guy, said i must be a very observant driver but here was a freindly warning to slow down and let me on my way. My other half had sat in the car panicking through this that he might have carted me off as she didnt drive then.
Shane
I have only had the Mkiv since the begining of the year and so far have not been pulled. But late last year I was driving around in a really old tatty BMW635 csi, tatty but legal. I was on the one way system in Wellingbor'o and saw a police car pull out of a side turn and then followed me for couple of minutes before pulling me. Fattest cop ever then asked me if it was my car, and then asked me who I was, then said why was I driving it uninsured! Told him it was insured and he reckoned that his computer check had showed that it had never been insured for the 2 years I had owned it. Told him this was rubbish (politely at this stage) and that if he wanted to follow me the 2 miles back to my house he could see the insurance for himself. He said he could not allow me to drive off until he had definite proof of insurance. I went a bit mad which didn't help and then I noticed he was checking the tax disk really close up and I realised I had the obvious argument of defence. I asked him if he was happy that the tax was genuine and he said yes, I then asked him to confirm that his crappy computer records definetly agreed that I had been the owner for two years and that it had not been insured for this time and he said yes. so how come I taxed it last month then? He looked a bit confused and then said oh well sometimes the computer database is not up to date etc etc but he was then on the run. He went to his car and poured himself back into it and I could see him talking to his mate and then both of them got out and started pulling the car to bits, front number plate was on the dash and he said this was illegal blah blah. I had been working on it just before I was pulled and was covered in crap and said I was in the proccess of getting it fixed when I had to come out to get some new plastic bolts. they looked at the tyres which luckily were almost new and then they issued me with a ticket to produce document which I did the next day. But, this is the first time I have been pulled by our lot for years and years (I am an old git by the way). Spent a fair bit of time driving in Eastern Europe, mainly Romania for a few years and you get pulled every hundred yards there, not kidding you can get pulled two or three times on a single journey there. Anyhow all ended well in my case but has anyone else ever heard about not being allowed to drive off until you have proved you are insured? My mate reckons it's because if they pull you and think you are not insured and then let you go and you run someone down, they could be sued. Dunno If I believe that though. What really gets me is that around here we have loads and loads of Polish people settling and they all run around on their Polish registered cars with no tax and who know if any insurance and I never hear or see them getting pulled and gipos too, driving around in their untaxed transit pick ups. Still feel really angry about it.
