I know a few of you have the unfortunate pleasure of working in the IT arena or maybe even in the recruitment game........well Im a Contract Computer Operator that will be looking for a new contract come the end of June as Reuters wont be renewing.

I work in the Infrastursture area mainly datacenters, all the usual Ops type stuff, monitoring, batch, escalation, day to day running of machine room, change control, backups etc, etc.......have operated on AIX, Solaris, HP, Mainframe and NT, so if anyone knows of anything that could help out, Im all ears.......:search: :search: :search:

Feck off you lot :p Go start your on thread.....lol

Stealthosts, I'll cover London to Bristol to the south coast... ;)

Snooze, Reuters are errmmmmmm, how can I put it, throwing money down a drain. They want to cut their comms costs to BT and the like so they have developed a new way (DVB - Digital Video Broadcasting) to distribute their financial and news information to their clients, thus reducing the £600 million pound a year costs, except the project to develop and implement it has now run out of money, and they nearly threw the towle in on the whole lot, aparantly for 8 contractors, some who have been here since last August have never had their wages included in the budget, despite 7 project managers running this project, its failed at every hurdle........as to why the Ops manager left I dont know, sure it was an Ops manager and not a Ops shift leader ?

He's joined here as a manager, I think - not sure what his actual role was at Reuters. Guy named Coote, I believe.

Guys load your CV on Jobsite.co.uk and Monster.co.uk, leave it and wait, I do get quite a lot of calls from Agencies that way. Other then that I look at Jobserve.com which Im currently chasing 12 contract positions and 6 perm positions. I have been offered a role at Betfair.com but the money aint good enough after travel expenses, however Visa in B/Stoke I have just heard are looking for a Unix Op, now that I'll have some.........

So no one into the recruiting game then........?

There is not a single job on jobserve that is what I do, I find that hugely worrying :(

Rosie, get your CV on jobserve first. Most recruitment agenceis will only post jobs up AFTER they've failed to find a candidate from their own records.
