Guest RichJ
Hi all, I am in the process of buying a Supra, a 94 J-spec RZ with auto box to be precise, and I am just wondering if the LSD was fitted as standard on them or an optional extra? I have also seen a few people on here recommending the TRD LSD, and if it doesnt have a LSD already fitted, what sort of costs would I be looking at to get a TRD LSD put on? Thanks in advance. Jake
No, not all RZ autos came with LSD. You can tell by looking on the VIN plate; if the TRANS/AXLE code ends with B it's got a LSD, if it ends with A it's an open diff. In my opinion the stock LSD diff is plenty good enough for road use. How much are you paying for this car Rich? I'm selling my 93 RZ Auto soon (See my sig for details of the car) and was wondering what they go for these days. Need4Speed
Easy way to tell is boot it coming off a roundabout. If it crashes very quicky it hasn't got one. The TRD is a proper plate type - when you jack up both back wheels and turn one by hand, the opposite one will turn the same way. If I were fittting one I'd gof the TRD. If it's got the ordinary LSD (Torsen?) then I agree with Jake, it does the job OK.
Rayman
It was definately an optional extra on the RZ in 1994!
Guest RichJ
Thanks for the info, looks like I might need to think about getting one fitted. Any idea on what the costs of getting a TRD LSD and having it fitted would be?
