uk spec / jap spec exhaust.

hi guys,

 

 

Just purchased a supra a few days back, want to put a nice exhaust and induction kit on to realease a few horses.

 

my supra is a UK spec: manual.

 

does this mean i cant fit an Apexi Gt on it :( i heard the downpipes are different on jap and uk spec cars??

 

any info greatly appreciated.

FYI your UK does have a sensor mounted in the 2nd Cat

However it seems to be common practice see here to just tie the sensor up out of the way and not refit, but as this was frowned upon by some with more knowledge than I maybe a current uk'er can comment. Bobbeh, Geeza.....Branners?

hmmm well its something il have to think about then :(

 

Im most certainley going to remove the cats. I rememeber doing this on my MR2 turbo... worked wonders... sounded nice and the turbos spolled up quickerrrr :) nicee....

There isn't any sensor mounted in the exhaust itself, so an aftermarket exhaust will bolt straight on to the second cat pipe.

I'm almost certain Geezabloke and Bobbeh are running without the sensor but i didn't want to just say go right ahead........

 

the decatting thing is another FAQ but basically the Uk cars don't respond as well as the j-specs with just a decat & exhaust (something to do with the different wastegates).

So basically i shuda got a j-spec? ahh bleh!!

 

and theres me thinkin having a uk'er will make my life easier lol.

I would argue they respond better. The UK specs boost to about 15 psi unlike the j-spec that tend to boost to silly levels.

I have the EGR system removed and the boost recirculate system removed and it still doesn't over boost.
