Anyone know how easy it is to fit these ?

Also is there a specific wiring loom on this to the supra or can I just use the existing wires ?

I know its an older model but I should be able to get it fairly cheap

thanks in advance.

ok found a wiring diagram on the net - one other question - the display reads in KM/H by the looks of it with no way to change it.

looks like I have to tap into the vehicle speed signal in the ecu under the passenger footwell - question is if I do this will it be a case of the unit saying "km/h" but the actual speed reading on the display will be in mph since I have obviously had the speed converted before SVA ?

thanks in advance

It depends how your speed convertor is fitted. If you have one of TRLs wired in properly then the feed to the ECU will be the normal unconverted signal to avoid problems with the progressive power steering, cruise control etc. I have an RSM, and I wired the speed wire in behind the speedo. In fact, what I did was wire up a switch that connects it to either the converted signal (from the speedo) or unconverted (that goes to the rest of the car) so I can switch between KPH and MPH (it still says KPH on the display though).

If you just have it wired up to the converted MPH wire you will also find that the power function won't work properly, because it expects to be seeing a speed in KPH to work it out from.

HI Simon - thats great info mate - I dont think I have a TRL speed limiter so I should be able to get away with getting the feed after the speed limiter they have installed(behind the speedo).

You mentioned that the "power" function wont work if I connect it up to the converted MPH wire directly(ie near the ECU) - I dont think the RSM I am planning to get has a "power" function (see picture of attached unit) and you may have a different model to me ? In principal though I guess the info you have given is generic across the two ?

Top marks for the switch idea - this will proove really usefull when I go across to france etc as the speedo on my S6 is tiny !

Thanks again dude

Oh right, yeah, mine's a later one that has one of these things where you tell it the weight of the car and it estimates the power from the acceleration. Rest should be the same though. I used it in Europe last year as a speedo like you said. Bloody handy.
