edd_t
Has only developed in the last couple of days. When moving forward I get a squeek with each rotation of the wheel. When going slow it sounds very much like bed springs squeeking... Doesnt seem to be anything to do with the brakes, as its the same squeek with them on or off (if that makes sense) Think it could possibly be a bearing??? Anyone got any thoughts... I have quite a bit of driving to do on Monday, so would be helpfull if I were to know that I should arrange another car or something... Guest Kazimodo
hi if its not the brakes which squeeked when mine went,it could be the shockers, which was my last problem, leaking oil from one side, still drivable though at the mo.plan to have them changed this weekend kaz

supRo
Edd, Possibly your handbrake shoes/springs. Try lifting the handbrake slightly when moving slowly....check if the sound differs?

supRo
will do, cheers fella... Not a definitive test though, better to remove the disc and inspect the springs/shoes and check for scorching inside the brake disc, the part that sits on the hub. edd_t
ok, i think it might be the hand break shoe/springs... when i started my journey the squeek had gone, till i got down the road and it started again! so i slowed to about 10, pulled the handbreak slightly and all i got was a shhhhhhhh noise. the noise disapeared after that, for a little while now its back! Feakins
Think I have this on mine too, makes more of a noise when turning right tho and its already had a new wheel bearing. Booked in the garage on Wednesday.
edd_t
ok took the wheel off. theres no warped disk. theres no stones. the break shoes seem to be sitting fine. but when you spin the hub, theres a little squeek! is there anything that I could oil perhaps??????? suprattgaz
Bearing, or spring popped out in horse shoe. Both have happened to me. Sounds like bearing though. Do it quick or you can damage the hub!!!
GetawayDriver
is it quite a light squeaking noise? do your wheels expose your hub centres? only noticed it in hot weather driving with the windows down passing a hard obeject like a car or wall? could be the retainer and split pin on the hub - mine squeaks like a bitch some times. doubt it's a wheel bearing - they don't squeak, just a heavy grinding that gets faster as the car does. edd_t
the sound got quite bad on monday, this was after about a 80 mile trip, you could hear the noise from inside the car, with the windows up! but yesterday the sound almost vanished, could hardly hear it with the windows down whilst driving past a wall! the wheel covers the hub centres. and i have only noticed it this week since the weather has been getting a lot hotter out there. we took the wheel off and turned the hub by hand, and the squeek was still there, its not a grinding noise, more of a shhhhhhh noise. suprattgaz
They do sqeek and not grind, hence why mone got bad. Didn't sound like a bearing so left it. It finally seized and rotated on the hub, and so damaged the hub aswell!!!!

Amir khan
Hi all, did you guys find the problem in the end? Im having the same thing on mine, Its mainly noticable below 20mph and after that goes quieter - but makes as similar noise as if you are braking. I also notice it comes and goes. Its not brake related. Any updates on this would be very helpful!
edd_t
update! blimey its 2 years old lol. yes in the end i had the wheel bearing changed, all was ok after that.
Guest Carsten
You saved my day! Got the same problem now Would you advice to only change the bearing or more? (hub etc)?
Amir khan
I think its adviced to change the hub bearing and spindel, But Id double check first
Guest Carsten
An advice: I checked it again today. It is NOT the bearing or else. Its the heat shield behind the disk
Guest Carsten
Just 1 more question. The heatshield at the brakes. Should i remove it or maybe replace/relocate it?
