Your only option with an Auto is the AEM. This is the only stand alone that will control the auto box.

The other way is to Piggy Back a stand alone onto you existing ECU but it's less than ideal.

Hi Terry,

Can you tell me which one I should go for, I see there are 2 different types.

Thanks

Anything else Roy;)

There have been various threads about the e-manage whilst you were away. Try a search. I am glad you mentioned the e-manage though as it seems a good midway point.

This depends on your power goals. A few guys off here are going to be using the e-manage soon ( I forgot that in my first post). See how it pans out for them. The AEM will allow you to change shift points on the autobox I believe, but fitting an e-manage should give you control over fuelling, and timing if the harness if added, and leave the stock ecu to worry about the autobox.

So if I've got this right then, if I go for the AEM, I'm going to be looking at a shed load of mapping time due to having to reprogram the auto box as well as the engine.

Where in the South east would be the best place to go and get the mapping done?

Cheers

Well to be honest, the goal is either a Big Twin or a Big Single. WIth the exception of fueling which I should be doing in the next few months. I don't think there is much else I need to do to the engine (Except the turbo's) COst is always going to a concern. and I need to find someone quite local (Southeat, east or Northeast of London) to do the work.

Thanks for your help on this mate.

Cheers

My mapper has spent alot of time on the AEM and his prices are very resonable, I have one fitted in my car which is also my daily driver and i do not have any cold start or idle problems that you normally hear about.

If you are going big twin or single then replacement ECU I think is the best route, others may disagree though, down to personal choice at the end of the day.

Cheers for that Wez. I think I might well go the AEM route.
