Timwildman
Not knowing a lot about gearboxes etc, Could this system be fitted to the auto box/triptronic? would it be worth it? as you will still have the same drive train losses. From my very basic driving experience the auto seems quite quick already.

T5 is a nicer shifting box, and bits are a lot cheaper. Sorry Chris, but I disagree with you here. A 3.0l I6 is hardly a torque monster, especially with a larger turbo setup. For a car like this, the more gears the better to stay in the powerband. Also, what gearbox can take 700+ HP and still has a smooth change? Also, 6th may suit the definition of an overdrive, but topping out at below 200mph on a car that can reach that sort of speed relatively easily makes it a necesity. I class it as a very useable gear. The 6th gear in a Viper is a true overdrive, as the car can barely accelerate in it, and it is amssively longer than 5th.
Keith C
Isn't the Getrag box in one of the Corvette's, as well as the R34 Skyline and Supra? Increases the chances of a conversion if it is
Syed Shah
Also in the M3 apparently............
Need4Speed
There's a big feature on the Zeroshift system in the current edition of RaceCar Engineering. Obviously the designers are still sorting out their patents etc, but the data does look very interesting. It even makes gearboxes cheaper to make! I have to agree with CW, transmission is about to make a fundamental change. To all you drag racers out there, how does a 12.7 metre advantage on a 10 second run sound? Chris Wilson
It seems to have died a death I have a Hamlet dog end from tonight, send me your address Michael, I don't Welsh on bets Hang on, where's this bet? Dual clutch transmissions have taken over, but they are heavy, so gear diameters and widths have been cut to a minimum, resulting in little extra torque capacity. I'll wager another cigar the new GTR will have problems, when modded, with the stock transaxle, far above the problems putting more torque through the conventional R34 Getrag box nad separate axle..
