Charlotte
Ok, we've just been out to the pub (we walked because it's not too far away from home). So on the way back Mike (the nice boyfriend that he is) decided he wanted a random Chinese so he went one way i went the other. I suddenly felt a bit scared and I'm not sure why. It's light outside, the area isn't particularly rough but still my heart was a bit of a flutter. Why is that? I never used to be scared as a teenager. Is it because the media say that you're going to be attacked near your home? I did come across quite a few strange characters on their own. Am i just paranoid? Lewis
natural reaction, with alcohol the endorfin levels are increased, the produces an adrenaline effect which heightens awareness and sesation. so you were hyper-aware of your surroundings and therefore more nervous. Same reasons blokes fight (that and the "I can piss higher than you" argument)
Jezz
I know exactly what you mean! With all these random stabbings going on it make's you think.

It makes me laugh because i used to walk home 2 miles from the local nightclub every weekend and it really didn't bother me, this is only 10mins down the road! Lewis
So i had a chemical reaction that i don't normally have? Why not, it's environmental, if you were stressed, happy, upset any different type of emotional state to a normal time it can trigger it. I'm just giving my opinion lol

markymark
Don't worry - my g/f is exactly the same. She is Irish & grew up in the country (been left on her own in the house in the middle of no-where since she was about 11) but still, she moves to Essex, & she doesn't want to go a walk on her own, even in the light.... she doesn't drink, so it's nothing to do with heightened senses in her case (although i can see where you're coming from stealth) - it is to do with it not being safe for people (men & women) to walk around on their own in this country - even I wouldn't be too keen about a walk on my own & I've lived here 20 years (& seen the place change) I better add my g/f is Northern Irish so has grown up in a temperamental environment - so it isn't just the country to town argument... even kids these days don't make her feel safe, especially as they hang in big crowds etc... and trust me, she isn't someone who is easily scared - she isn't really scared of anything (not stereotypical female behaviour) yet doesn't want to walk to the shop on her own - (think that's her excuse to drive the supra!) So Charlotte - you're not on your own. And I don't think I'm afraid to say I'm not keen on walking on my own the way the world is - & I can handle myself - so can my g/f - but who can handle themselves when knives etc... are involved. Charlotte
Phew glad i'm not alone! I was getting into my car the other day in broad daylight and this bloke walked past, fine whatever. But as I'm putting stuff in my passenger side he stopped right next to the car and started staring. I was really quite frightened thinking he was going to rob me. There are some very strange people around.

Different scenario mate, it is the sdame for your other half, her adrenaline is going because she is on her own in an environment that she is not comfortable being alone in (it's not the family home she was brought up being alone in from time to time). Charlotte is not normally like that but the alcohol heightened her awareness. my 2p but charlotte has told me not to share it so I am off to cry into my pillow (while I watch police academy) lol

markymark
Stealth - she agrees to a point, but how do you explain me feeling like that? I don't feel that safe walking about on my own in the evenings - I've lived here all my life, I'm 30, I know a lot of people in the area, I can handle myself in a fight - sorry mate, not saying your argument is wrong, just wanted to try to find out what you think - I can't be the only guy on here who feels like I do
