oh dear - someone should have told Jezzy that it doesn't hit retail shelves until tomorrow.

You can get it from Steam, hopefully the servers aren't too busy - I preloaded it :D

just taking a break - upto chapter 3 so far.

Its a standalone game but an online game is packaged with it (Not my cup of tea). not sure much content there is as its rather cheap at £13 via Stream.

Downloading now, but the speed isn't great - 480kb/s average (6hrs left!)

Well, its finally finished... 250kb/s average in the end, they cap your download speed for sure.

Looks like the game is only 4-6 hrs play time so could be a bit of a short run thing.

If it isn't, see you all next week :D

Homer you finished downloading the game, just about the same time I completed it. For those of you who remember Halflife BlueShift... This is shorter. :(

To be honest I was expecting so much more, oh well it was entertaining while it lasted. Enjoy it guys and gals.

it's better value than buying a DVD. I quite enjoyed it, and will probably play it through again at some point, maybe even on hard (though I am a pussy). so it's probably worth 10 nuggets yeah, but it could have been so much better.

I can't remember how long it took me to complete HL2 if say that was 12-15 hours then proportionally it's probably worth it.

That's the problem with hype - you always expect more than you get.

First impressions are that the graphics are absolutely awesome, the best I've seen on any game so far (regardless of platform). The engine and latest optimisations are very efficient, it makes far, far better use of hardware than many recent releases like Fear and Oblivion.

I think I’m going to be disappointed with the duration of the game and the replay value, but the publisher are on to a winner releasing half live in episodes rather than a whole game. People like me are guaranteed to buy each episode regardless of how short it is

How can you be disappointed with HL2?! Bestest game 'evar' :D

Anyway, don't miss the point of this folks, yes it's short because Valve are concentrating on "episodes"... Hence the name :) They can use the Steam platform to spit out 4 to 6 hour gameplay episodes every 6 months rather than one game every 5 years... And for 12 quid, hurrah!
