Digsy
Broadcast on National Geographic "normal". ...anyone else noticed how pixellated it is? I'mnot dissing HD for one second, but puuur-lease don't try to trick me into buying it by making the regular images look extra-shite. The advert ends with the words "see eveything" (or some such) in swirly letters at the bottom of the screen, and it looks like something off a ZX Specturm screengrab. Come on! I know that regular TV res is better than that. Tut tut.

Bobbeh
HD kicks ass, this sounds like either its having problems with the bandwith or your hardware sucks.. whats your setup?
Mike
I think he meant that they made the regular picture a bit rubbish so that you'd buy HD...

Digsy
I think he meant that they made the regular picture a bit rubbish so that you'd buy HD... But just on the advert. I used to have a Spectrum - a proper rubber-keyboard 48K one. I had a chance to buy one at work for a few quid a while back and I almost did just out of nostalgia value. Mike
my mate used to have one of those, my cousin had a commodore64 and i had the Spectrum 128k with the build in tape deck. those were the days!! that's the one I had... the only trouble being it didn't have a volume control on the deck so you couldn't copy your mates games.... not that I would have done such a thing you understand... Check out World of Spectrum.. a scarily completest site for all things speccy... even pages from Crash...

Pete
I've noticed the quality of the Telewest cable varies considerably from channel to channel, with the lesser channels being very highly compressed sometimes. It must be some kind of automated bandwidth detection system which varies compression of delivery depending on demand and activity on other channels.
