My daily driver has done 360 K miles, and I expect a lot more out it yet ;) By running such sheds on the road I can afford something that might only do a few hundred miles as a race car before needing expensive attention. I sure as hell can't afford an exotic road car AND a temperamental racer  Not unless the market for emu chicks has a most remarkable about change, and the old girl starts laying like a machine gun spits bullts!

Right people,

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone replying to this thread. Nice to hear a wide variation in opinions on the subject of lightened flywheels.

Just wanted to clarify that I had no intentions of personally trying to lighten the stocker, I wondered if it was physically possible and whether anybody had done it in the past.

A change of flywheel is miles away for me, upgrade wise (sorry Paul) and probably something I'll never do anyway unless it was coupled with a dedicated rebuild, and even then I wouldn't definately go for it.

May invest in an uprated clutch when its due so i'll be after opinions then.

Cheers guys

Dan
