milocoon
Just back from a trip to Benodet in Brittany, mainly driven in top gear TT Auto between 2000 and 3500 RPM. However did manage about 10 miles on a completely empty Peage Motorway near Le Havre at 150 Leptons and it was still going but my bottle ran out, revs were still low and there was more to come. Completely STD engine. 27 mpg average over our 950 mile holiday ! Came back to the UK and totally disgusted with the state of our third class roads, you don`t have manhole covers sunk into a dual carriageway in France, they are off the road so cars don`t damage alloy wheels etc Weather was slightly better than the UK we had two dry days, saw one police car and made great progress on uncongested roads, felt like a pleasure driving ! wrenlea
THE best place to drive in the UK has to be Scotland. Even in the height of summer (other than Saturday) there is not too much traffic and the roads are so great that the odd car in front is easily soared past! Then when you do not need to stare at the road 100%, the scenery is superb

You'll soon realise why everyone drives SUVs

Some of the roads we drove on were fantastic and NONE of them were in particularly bad condition. I know what you mean about NYC......but come on - who goes there to find good driving roads???????? The subway is fairly smoothe though!!
Bobbeh
Hehe I certainly wouldnt, but just pointing out the tax pays for the roads, in the US they dont tax much for roads, and they suck, mainland Europe is usually in Germany in France in particular. Japs have the best roads
