carl0s
Some general SMIC info here (also mentions CW SMIC): http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/intake/intercooler_2JZGTE.htm I can't get over the apparent quality of the HKS Type-S core there.. supraman.chris
As good as that sounds Martin, i'm gonna have to hang fire on that as my boots are starting to look low on tread and i havn't had much luck finding a supplier for the new wheels i want. terribleturner
I think a good FMIC is the way forward, just so long as its not one of those huge ones (if your only going BPU or there abouts) which will mean relocating coolant resevoir Gonna have to do that with all fmic but they should come with a new smaller bottle like the GReddy 2 row. Does anyone actually notice a big difference with the active spoiler?? Personnally i would sacrifice it for a new IC/FMIC.
carl0s
Many of those comments are unsubstantiated though. Unless backed up with a reason then it's just hearsay. Sure, I agree it is hearsay. But it's not good hearsay is it?
supraman.chris
I never have mine on as it flashes at me and that can't be good, besides it's very heavy and not compatible with my new bumper. In other words, active front spoiler and bumper for sale!
RedM
We have copy Smic's coming in in the next months or so £350. Look-a-likes or perform-a-likes? Have they been tested? How do they compare to stock or existing aftermarket SMICs?
imi
We have copy Smic's coming in in the next months or so £350. Im interested in this....any updates on the spec, will it be like OEM, or uprated?? Many thx
RedM
I'm getting confuddled. I think I'll just go for a CW SMIC. It's a known quantity, regarded highly and affordable. Taking a very long-term view an FMIC would be the way to go but seems to need more work and hassle and I'm not yet convinced that fitting one makes that much difference on any car that's BPU or less. But, hey! All the big guns have em so they must be good.
Lucifer
All in good time. I have no details as of yet let alone a product in my hand.
merckx
I'm getting confuddled. I think I'll just go for a CW SMIC. I'm happy with mine. Be careful with the stock one when you remove it, it looks to be in very good condition - you could definately sell it for a few quid. I'm not sure of the merits of a FMIC when you've still got the original front bumper.
supraman.chris
Some general SMIC info here (also mentions CW SMIC): http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/intake/intercooler_2JZGTE.htm WOW! That was some really good reading, maybe a CW SMIC is the way to go if you keep the original bumper. I have a DoLuck being fitted and for the time being i'm gonna mesh the main section and salvage the ducting to supply the SMIC till i can afford a HKS FMIC. supraman.chris
OH! And a quick trip to Carpet Wise for some of that thermal underlay maybe a good idea also
JohnA
CarpetRight But it didn't make a measurable difference in temps mind you. Not in the long run.
