foodfreak
Does anyone know how much of a drain using the intellistart puts on the battery, mine seems to be running out of charge quickly. I think this might be to do with me using the intellistart too much thanks, John
Gaz Walker
I wouldn't have thought any more than you starting in and stopping it the same way? Might just be due for a new battery. Gaz.
foodfreak
Hi Gaz, thanks for the reply, i just wasn't sure. Matt did say that using the intellistart could drain the battery, i will check with him later. Regards, john
Gaz Walker
I had it on my old car (C600 + intellistart) and used it 2/3 times a day and had no problems for nearly a year... Gaz.
foodfreak
It could well be the battery then, even tho it's only 2 years old John
Nick_TC
Might be worth checking the alternator, should be putting out 13.5-14.5 volts when under load (lights on, heater blowers on). Cant see it being the intellistart, unless your starting it and then stopping it without the car being driven.
MONKEYmark
i have had mine on car for 3+ years and has been ok. but i have had a new battery on. also had a new battery on astra too. i always used remote start. the battery in the alarm fob tend to go pretty quick but they only £1 each and carry a few spares along with a few rear bulbs that cost 50p each i have been having a bit of trouble with astra. turns out its fanbelt slipping and brand new battery was not holding charge. got new fanbelt £3.30 to fit. always spend spend spend with cars
AJI
What is 'intellistart' ? Is this something every Supra owner should know?
foodfreak
voltage when running o.k 13.5- 14.2 must be the battery:(
jagman
every engine start takes 6-10 miles to replenish the battery,so short trips slowly reduce battery capacity, when temp drops battery capacity also drops, plus cold engine oil(thicker) puts more load on starter - hence winter battery probs-best slow charge 1-2 amperes for 48 hrs at beginning of winter.its hard to find the old fashioned chargers with low current, usually the made in china 5/7/10 amp halfrauds type which have very poor regulation on them and can buckle the lead plates in battery or cause deposits in battery case. ive got a couple of old chargers that i use,got them at an autojumble for £3 each should last another 30 years:)
