Nic
Any PS experts out there? The Japanese version of the PSP I supplied to a lot of members last year were all region 2, which is the same region as the UK, so DVD's and games were compatible. I'm just wondering if this will be the same on the new PS3's, ie. if I source Japanese PS3's, will they be compatible with UK games?
Mike
I don't think anybody knows yet Nic... they keep changing their minds about the spec.. but hey, if it's region free I'll be adding my name to the list.. Are they going to do this region rubbish on Blue-Ray/HD-DVD's as well then?
Whitesupraboy2
i will be honest i will be shocked if this is region free.... PS2 and PS1 never were. Also they are planning jap, euro and US launch very close together
Mike
and apparently we're only going to be offered the 60Gb version... which is fair enough I think..?

Nic
If Japan and UK are both region 2 DVD, then in theory a Jap region 2 PS3 will be able to play UK region 2 PS3 games the same as the PSP's do. They are due to be launched here around November, if they are compatible then look forward to a big group buy. http://media.lethbridgecollege.ab.ca/nguyfr/ps3-launch-concept.jpg /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif

Bobbeh
I'll be up for a PS3 but only when I know wtf they're going to release it with, heard lots of reports of it not being compatbile with this and that, sounds like it could end up being a very expensive purchase. Charlotte
I don't like the look of the controller, looks like it could be painful after a while.
Thorin
I don't like the look of the controller, looks like it could be painful after a while. Thats an old picture. They got a load of hassle over the boomerang design and they've just gone with a slightly modified version of the PS2's dual shock2 controllers. MARTIN R
Will there be the same wait for these on launch date like the Xbox's? The situation will be even worse!!!!. It will be a total PITA ( As a buyer for a retail chain I know how bad the allocations will be:( )

MONKEYmark
i used to be into all the latest consoles.they soon go out of date fast.still got a jap spec playstation.dont get to excited about new consoles.there have been some great games over the years.nintendo make some playable games. wonder if the ps3 will be anywhere like arcade games.all the car games like gran turismo and ridge racer should do well.might be worth waiting for after the launch to settle and prices come down.i payed 525 for the original playstation 1.seen some nutter pay 1000 to have one of the first ones about. they were amazing when you first seen but if you look at them now they will look like spectrum games.
