Willson
My car has just started making a groaning noise when turning at low speed, especially full lock. From what I read when searching, this is the PS pump dieing. Do you think it will be okay to drive? I don't want to be stranded:confused: Any advice much appreciated. TIA
Scooter
Could just be low fluid, but this would likely point to a leak somewhere. This is what happened with my old UK car, the leak was a tiny hole in the PS cooling pipework due to corrosion (10yrs worth of salty winters) that took a number of weeks to go from high to low. Eventually located the source by having a good clean up in the area and then running the car and watching. A friend affected a semi permanent repair with some flexible piping. Probably not the case for you but maybe for some others in the not to distant future (+ it reminds me that I should let the owner of my old car know as well really!) Scooter
At the time of my problems I was informed that PAS fluid consumption should be nil, so if the topping up works it may be useful to check for leaks. this may help
