One thing to do is look at the job ads and see the skills they are looking for - then try and learn the basics at home with some cheap books / Internet and use this info to blag an interview, once you have a foot in the door amaze them with your personality.... so about that job in the butchers..... ;)

A few jobs to get you started:

Michael,

I don't want a job as a socket set! I'm not shiny enough either.

LOL, sorry about that :)

That could have been a dodgy mistake if I wasn't so pure :innocent:

This was the link I meant to post:

http://www.jobserve.com/searchresults.aspx?jobType=*&d=7&page=1&q=helpdesk+and+leeds&x=0&y=0&order=Rank&all=on&cb01=1&dt=1&ps=20&cid=0

Similar to the other, just searching on 'helpdesk' rather than '1st line' - ideally you want to try and get in somewhere that isn't a basic call centre and lets it's people have a tinker with things.

ahhh should be easy to blag a job for that much money I'd reckon :)

check the market, swat up on skills that are in demand, be confident and just go for it :)

from there the only way is up... it may be harder to earn 30+ these days in IT, but at least you have some headroom to grow into :)

I wouldn't know what to do with 30k a year. Apart from the Ridox bodykit, the single conversion, the respray, the Volks wheels, the big ass plasma telly, the hoildays, the security etc etc. Apart from all that I wouldn't know what to do with it.

We rent. Oh, I get it. I could start earning big money and spend it all on a mortgage thereby making me work harder and spend my time worrying that I'll lose my income.

do you mind me asking how much rent you pay? its just that a 100k intrest only mortgage is about £400 a month, so you might be better of buying:)

We pay 450 a month but we live in a really nice, safe area. We tried for a mortgage but the amounts they were offering would have barely got us a place in areas I wouldn't park a Supra.

So we rent here amongst the Bentleys and Astons.

yeh but that must be an 85% morgage surely, im close to that on a house i got and it bit more then £400 a month :(.

Mate from what your saying wage wise, sounds like you have a perfect opportunity for IT helpdesk work. Money will be least what your on and is good chance to settle in and decide where you want to branch off too. Good luck!
