Stalling and no display on boost controller

Drove my car home the other night running 1.1bar, no problems and car ran smoothly as usual.

Next morning, the car had a bit of ice / frost over it and when i started it up, the engine stalled after 3-4 seconds. I started it again and once more it stalled after 3 seconds. At this point I noticed there was no display on my Apexi AVCR.

To get it started i kept it up to 3,000rpm and noticed it was idling rough. When i drove it, the turbo(s) were whistling very loud and the car was jerking as my foot came off the accelerator to change gear. I left the car at home in the end and got train to work. Tried to start it again today and same problem. Engine management light is on, on top right of the dash.

Justin at Torque IC has kindly offered to have a good look at it. But in the mean time does anyone have any ideas what it could be? It's strange since the car was totally fine the night before and i don't usually drive about 1 bar.

1 bar should not have caused any damage but....

Two things spring to mind.

1) Take out the plugs and look at them. Are the OK and dry. i.e. all the metal is there are looks correct and they are not wet or oily.

2) Possibly an odd electrical problem - loose wire. I know nothing about the Apexi stuff.

Is the engine light the only one that comes on - does is stay on from the initial ignition.

Not sure about the light, but the rest is typical of a popped off hose...

Try reading the engine management fault codes and tell us what fault code it is.

Details are on the http://www.MkIV.com site for reading fault codes.

If this was a UK car I'd say it sounds like a hose off and the MAF was metering air to fuel incorrectly.

As it's a Jap car it won't be this as it doesn't have one.

When it runs (of sorts) does it stutter, back fire or sound like it's running on all six cylinders?

With no power to the Apexi AVCR try looking for a fuse blown or something. Normally they are fed from the same ECU supply so I'd doubt it would have even tried to start????

Is this what you meant by nothing on the AVCR screen?

Regards

Pete

The hose to the MAP sensor, which has probably been T'd off from to also feed the AVCR will have come off. Someone will have a link to a pic of where this is, I am supposed to be on holiday, so I'll leave it at that :D Basically it is on the intake plenum, near the engine oil dipstick, small hose. If it has that dreadful small bore blue silicone hose patching the connections bin it for proper rubber stuff, it splits for fun. I wouldn't drive it until it's fixed...

Thanks everyone for the advice. It's really depressing looking at my Supra parked up, out of action, while i pull away in a 1.8i Avensis!

The AVCR has no display on it at all. The engine management light comes on and stays on as soon as the car is started.

I will check all hosing and plugs. Hopefully it will be something as minor as that. I am glad no one has mentioned turbos so far.

Thanks again for the advice. Chris, have a good holiday.
