FMIC? Are you sure???

The SMIC arrives in about 3 weeks, which works perfectly with my plan to have it all done in a months time.

As soon as it's dynoed/mapped, I'll post up some AIT's and let you know if I'm getting any surge.

Would it be worth monitoring pressure in the turbo to IC hose?

I haven't been able to log to the forum lately, and now I see a different atmosphere, more aggressive, antagonistic and confrontational.

Well, I tell you what, CW reading this send me a SMIC ill plumb it into my car, and even with my 100mm tb and 4inch pipe kit, you wait and listen for the surge boy, ill tape it. :0

 

And log AIT from my setup now, to the SMIC. :)

Yes just like changing the turbos has an effect on the next chain in the link. So then which if I'm correct here the question was asked why do people do not use an SMIC instead of FMIC on larger turbos .

 

To which has been covered:

 

The flow more respectively at the same boost the larger you go up the range.

Cams have now been covered

Temps have been covered

Eficiency has been covered

Ducting of the SMIC has been covered

Effects of the FMIC on engine cooling has been covered.

Everything but the back tyres have been covered.

 

So why cant anyone answer the question?????? Would i be safe to run my ,for example GT42rs, on a CW or greddy or any other SMIC with out it restricting flow.

LOL- Thorin, yea remind me WHY i would pay for a CW SMIC? I mean its to prove his can flow singles right?

 

Why would i put a part on my car to downgrade its performance?

 

Why couldnt he borrow me one for testing purposes .... hey, its not like i want freebies .... muhahaha.

 

Sometimes i don get you supra owners, I mean someone wants to test a product but is willing to take time to do it, and show the club what the results are?

 

You think people buy parts for testing purposes ... bit of a waste of money dont you think? I mean if everyone feels so strong about the SMIC, why dont the club pay for it .... hahaha

Tony, do me a huge favour, when you fit the SMIC with those big twins, can you measure the pre/post core charge temps and also the pressure drop across the core.

But I should imagine Chris has no interest what-so-ever in proving anything.

 

That's a shame as it would aid his sales if the results were positive.

Not a problem. The only issue is I'll not be able to do it all on one run. The sensors are too pricey! (pressure in particular) The bosses to fit them, and blanking plugs are next to nothing in comparison. I'll be able to do one run, then move the sensor and then do another. Not ideal, but at least it will give an indication.....

Chris hasn't got any to lend you anyway, he's waiting for an order to come in, which will be here in approx 3 weeks. By then I'll probably only be a week or two away from testing it myself! Paitence man, have patience!

What and how do you need to measure, I have a CW SMIC fitted already.

 

I can measure AIT etc, not able to measure pressure drop though as I only have one sensor.

 

Maybe I could plumb in the stock MAP sensor before the SMIC and use the AEM MAP sensor after, would this help, although would be grief to setup :)

If my CW SMIC can cope with 550-600 then I'll not be fitting a FMIC when I go single. Other than the looks, why would I.

 

The choice is more difficult if your starting position is a knackered old OEM SMIC.

 

 

 

EDIT: I can't believe I've killed another thread. I'm the kiss of death for threads.... when will I learn. :)
