AEM compatible with Jap spec?

I know Paul has the AEM on his car just wondering if it was a direct Plug and Play or was there any pin swaping? I ask as the pins on the US and Jap cars are a bit different.. also is the AEM able to read Jap MAP sensor output and what sort of mods are required to run this unit on jap spec? Is it just a matter of swaping the stock Map sensor for a AEM 3 bar sensor? Confused about this?:conf:

Hello Randy,

I have the AEM on my J-Spec and it is a direct swap no need to move any pins, I am on a manual and so is Paul W, not sure about auto.

It will need mapping as the base maps are supplied for UK/US which have 550cc injectors, also if you want to run boost higher than a BAR you will need to install some form of ignition amp, I have a HKS DLI which works great.

A wideband sensor is also highly recommended as mapping without is very tricky.

Thanks wez! Who did the install and mapping for you? I am planning on getting the AEM kit required for install ie... fjo wb, GM or AEM map sensor for 3 bar and GM IAT sensor. How do you hook the Map sensor up? Where can I get the install instructions for mkiv and the instruction manual?

Hey Randy,

I did the install and also modded the base map to suit my setup and then got a friend to map it, he will also map yours and his rates are very resonable.

Most of the mapping can be done on the road with fine tuning on the rollers.

He will also do the install if you like, the new map sensor is wired in place of the old map sensor, I am still running with the original map sensor at the moment and will be upgrading to 3 Bar when i install my single.

PM me if you want his details.

ROFL

Didn`t realise dude :innocent:

The AEM is very easy to install, it is just a simple swap its the mapping that could take time.

If you do get stuck and need it mapping i know my mate has recently come back from Dubai and Dublin where he was mapping but obviously would be alot more expensive.

Remote mapping to a spec is pretty much impossible to get right, every engine and setup is slightly different to get the best from your setup it would need to mapped on the car.

He prob would but I doubt it would be cheap.

S-D, perhaps a little harsh mate? I'm new myself to these parts, but I have to say the guys on the forum seem to be a good bunch - plenty of mickey taking and banter I know, but its entirely in fun (well, I hope so!). I've had loads of help already, even met 3 of the guys who were either selling me stuff, buying stuff, or just giving advice.

Symz (oh yes, bet someones going to pick me up for missing an apostrophy here, but I know I'm safe, my grammer is better than my spelling)

i asked for help not snide remarks if you cant help stop being a troll and go away !

John was only pulling your leg mate, don't take it personal :)

Regarding mapping the AEM, there's two guys in Europe who are qualified, DImitri and Arnout. Dimitri came over earlier this year to map Dudes car, think he spend 2 or 3 days on it in total!

I don't think either of them come over here regular as so few people have AEM's, best bet is to contact them directly:

Arnout: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/member.php?find=lastposter&t=47620
