LRP, is it use able?

Hi, a series of questions that I dont know, but have had old wife's tales about so I thought I would ask here.

 

If the cats are removed, is 97ron LRP ok to use or not?

 

As it has the lead replacment in it should it run colder than normal unleaded?

 

What are the issues and dangers for using LRP?

 

It is about 4-5p a liter cheaper than Optimax, and was just wondering if it was ok to use as someone with a 1JZGTE on another site said he had and it was fine.

Andy, AFAIK there would be no engine issues, but would it affect the lambda sensor? I think leaded petrol would stuff it up, but I'm not sure about LRP.

 

EDIT:

A quick Google (ooer missus!) indicates thet LRP shouldn't be used with a lambda sensor.

i know that when they got rid of the 4 star and produced LRP,many tuners said it was utter crap and it was no replacement for leaded fuel,i had a well fettled Renault 5 gt turbo at the time and the tuners did some tests.We all ended up using super unleaded.i would say always use super although i have used normal,but that was just to get me to a garage that sold super:) and i drove on low boost.

As I understood it from when I looked into it a while ago, it can be troublesome on a forced-induction motor. It can be done but requires some real expertise to do properly and safely. It's difficult to maintain the correct air/fuel ratio with LRP and a turbo/super charger.

 

I was considering buying a cheap N/A and having it LRP'd as a run about. I'm thinking of buying a used white Astravan now instead
