loks
Anyone else had this problem? Took some of the dash apart to fix one of the air vents and 'played' with the auto shift assembly in an attempt to remove the slight slack in the lever. Put it back it back together, fired her up with no problem and turned off the ignition. BUT the key will not physically return to the off position Therefore the dash lights, radio, aircon all remain active and after one evening a fairly flat battery is totally dead. One new battery later and the car is a runner again and drives perfectly but still the key does not return to off position. Here's the interesting part, if I disconnect the battery the key can be turned to off and removed Electrical problem - a definite probable.....Solution - ? ....Anyone? Yes, I have taken everything apart and checked for loose connections. Yes, I have returned the gear shift to park. Yes, I have reset the ECU (Battery and EFI fuses out). Yes, I have tryed to turn on/off the alarm but it only operates the drivers door lock mechanism. No, I have not run the dioagnostic test yet because No, I have not tried to reset the alarm ecu because and I couldn't tell you what alarm it is to start with! (non-standard) Any help would be most appreciated.....

Paul R
It wont let you take the key out if the shifter is not in park! Or it thinks that the shifter is not in park! Paul.
