theyoungeone
hi guys heard about a twin to twin conversion on the turbo set up ???? ive got a jap tt 6sp and already got rebuilt turbo to just above uk spec !!! and i was woundering about converting them to constant twin in stead of the standard set up. any ideas on how this is done and if theres a plus side to this ???? I would love to go single turbo setup but carnt afford it.
mawby
Take a look here. Doing a search of ETTC for other threads about it.
Peter P
Hi M8, I think your reffering to 'true twin' as opposed to seqential which is the normal setup. There have been a few threads on this topic you could search but in summary the 'true twin' mode is a switch mounted in the dash that enables you to get both tubbies spooling together at the expense of some low down pick-up (that's what I found anyway!). To be honest, in my humble opinion, the conversion doesn't net any real gains and is more of a pain in the a@s than anything!! I'll be removing mine when the single conversion is done. Paul Whiffin mapped my E-Manage and couldn't detect much difference between the two settings and wasn't familiar with them as most of the cars he sees don't have them fitted. Your choice but I would try to get along to an owners meet and see if someone with the conversion will take you for a spin! May be better spending the money on something elsa that can net you a few more ponies! Just my 2p worth! Pete

Makes the car more noisier - a horrible low note, even on idle.

Tom
Hey, here's the easy way to do it, it takes mins, I will warn you though your car is about to sound awesome! http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/andy.htm Seriously though every time I've changed it this way one of the vsv's fails and the boost spike aint too pretty either, depends on on how much your boosting though as I'm stock, if you have a manual you'll prob like it, auto will be a bit crap. And do as the insutrctions say with taking it easy the first time over 4k, it will take a couple of times while the pressure tank builds up before you hear any different
theyoungeone
WOW that was fast, didnt expect a responce until tonight when people get home from WORK. thanks alot guys for all the info, i think i will try it to see what its like, i get the point about fast driving round corners and then the second turbo kicks in, i dont like that all but i think my HKS EVC3 needs a re-tune. as for the sound ive got a hks exhaust but still got the first cat down pipe on and would love a bit of extra noise. theyoungeone
thats it tom, i forgot for a moment which exhaust i had on my car. im looking forward to trying this mod. i had a soarer tt manual which come as a true twin set up already, i know it was 500cc smaller engine and small turbos but i loved the way that came on boost, very easy to control and gave good power. i had my supra on a dyno last week and it put down 342 at the wheels, so 400ish i imagine at the crank. Guest chiefvinso
I'm curious now, I've read mawbys link but noone says whether it can cause damage other than boost spikes which presumably can be controlled by emanage?
Guest chiefvinso
Also, what do you do with the pipe that was originally connected to the actuator? Blank it off?
