Fitting rear wheel bearings?.

Right after changing the rear brakes i have discovered that the squeek i get sometimes isnt the rear brakes althought they dont make as much noise now !.

But after reading about the rear bearings and talkin to a friend of mine im almost certain it is these that are making the noise.

My question to all is how hard is this to do on your drive ?,i feel quiet confident following instructions etc when it comes to these things but i dont wont to bite off more than i can chew !.

Any ideas on the subject would be great i just want to know what im getting my self into ?.

Regards Dan ;)

Dan,

Most good garages will quote an honest 3 ish hours labour to do this in a proper workshop. It has been discussed before and the general concensus is that you should not attempt this yourself without a big press and the right tools.

i removed my hub myself and that was a good 4 nights work in its self, even with a decent copy of the manual

i then took the removed hub to Toyota who managed to fit the new bearing wrong (i dont know how) and when i refitted it the whole hub/driveshaft assembly was loose. so i took it back, they had another go, all happy, all done
