Thorin
Ok listening to Trivium - Ascendancy, now. Half way through first song. Sounding ok, bit too much gravelly screaming, but I'll give it chance. As luck would have it that was one I'd got on my hard disk, I don't have broadband so rely of getting DVD's full of MP3 from a geezer at work containing the whole weeks worth of album releases (you've no idea how much crap gets released week in week out). Looks like his source has dried up recently though, nothing for a while. I've had about 100GB's worth in the past 6 months. I'll trim it down eventually. Best of songs of praise is staying though. Classic. System of a down - Ok, like some stuff (chop suey!!), but gave hypnotize a listen... didn't really grab me. Kill switch engage - a band I've heard mentioned lots... but yet to hear anything they've done. Of course I probably have but don't realise it. Same with Mudvayne and StaticX really. Tool - used to be pretty good... about 95-96 when I last heard anything from them. Drowning Pool - Like what I've heard but just a few of tracks (bodies obviously, sinner..). Disturbed - ah yes, I have 10,000 fists queued that up. Paradise lost - ahh yes, all the really cool goths used to listen to them. *snigger* Willing to give them a chance. Bob
Heh, if you want goth you could always try My Dying Bride Actually, the main reason I've got stuff up for sale is 'cos I'm saving for tickets to Download - anyone here planning on going?
Al_Lilley
honestly give the new paradise lost album a listen...not as heavy as their earlier days....but the music is fantastic,as for the solos...classic paradise lost
Thorin
My Dying Bride are in the list also as it happens, queued up. It's not generally goth stuff I'm into though. honestly give the new paradise lost album a listen...not as heavy as their earlier days....but the music is fantastic,as for the solos...classic paradise lost I'll have to wait to see if it turns up on a future DVD. Oh, and I've just seen static-X - start a war... and accidently clicked play instead of queue. Have to say Trivium wasn't really holding my attention, but one of the songs was pretty good... Static-X has started off on a better foot.
Thorin
A list of other possible candidates scanned from the seemingly metal stuff... Ill Nino - One Nation Underground Rammstein - Rosenrot Soulfly - Dark ages All riot - waterdown (heard these mentioned before) Roadrunner United - All star sessions Slipknot - 9.0:Live (are they actually any good or just a gimmic?) Soil - true self Atreyu - Death-grip on yesterday Caliban - Undying darkness Mastodon - Leviathan Rob Zombie - Educated horses Sepultura - Dante XXI The Autumn offering - revelations of the unsung Opinions? Thorin
How about Robin, kermit's nephew, singing "halfway down the stairs."? There's just something disturbing about it. Perhaps some repressed memories of muppets.

Thorin
I think I need a copy of some of these DVDs young sir If it's Songs of praise you're after, I think it's two cd's. I just borrow them, dump them to a folder then sort, rename, update tags... I'll have to stick some of the, less "pop" stuff on a DVD.
Thorin
Incidently, a large majority of the albums seem to be pop or dance compilation types. e.g. Various - Ministry of Sound whatever the flavour of dance is this week part one
