andrew7
Nothing to do with "snobbery." And the Talex isn't expensive compared to other units out there.. Is it snobbery to put good tyres on your car to protect yourself? Or decent oil in your car to protect your engine?.. If it doesn't do the job properly (which is after all to protect your licence) then it is NOT a bargain and you have wasted your money... Thorin
Nothing to do with "snobbery." And the Talex isn't expensive compared to other units out there.. Ok.... I'll.... speak.... slowly.... The Talex is very expensive compared to this unit. Is it snobbery to put good tyres on your car to protect yourself? Or decent oil in your car to protect your engine?.. If it doesn't do the job properly (which is after all to protect your licence) then it is NOT a bargain and you have wasted your money... Again, it does its job excellently. It just doesn't have all the bells and whistles.
andrew7
Ok T, you get one of those.... I'll stick with the one I have been using for the last year (not a Talex BTW) and as far as I know has only missed one fixed camera and one mobile camera in that time.... The report states it only registers 9 out of 10 fixed sites. That means it is not registering at least 600 fixed camera positions. Plus it doesn't warn of any mobiles at all. In my mind it is not acceptable for any price. Not worth 10p if you get a ticket or two.......

You mean its missed camera's??!?!!?!! OMG!!!! That'll never save your license, you wanna buy one o them £400 snoopers, your one's useless! Plus it doesn't warn of any mobiles at all. In my mind it is not acceptable for any price. Not worth 10p if you get a ticket or two....... Mobile sites can be added (along with red light camera, accident black spots...). andrew7
Not getting it yet are you T. By definition the word "bargain" means something of good quality that you can buy at much less than its true value..... The Toad simply is not good quality in terms of camera detection, in fact it is piss poor to be honest, therefore it is not a bargain, it is simply cheap (and nasty)...... michael
Not getting it yet are you T. By definition the word "bargain" means something of good quality that you can buy at much less than its true value..... Bless, it's a £50 saving, less than half price, that's a bargain. 4 chaps I work with now have these, none have them have any grumbles. The Toad simply is not good quality in terms of camera detection, in fact it is piss poor to be honest, therefore it is not a bargain, it is simply cheap (and nasty)...... It's picked up 100% of the cameras I've passed and matches the info on my TomTom and RoadPilot - the point of this one is this: "is it better at picking up cameras than no detector?" Yes it is, £30 is impulse buy money, £80 isn't - a cheap yet reliable detector is better than no detector, this unit is perfect for me to throw in my work van rather than having nothing, therefore it's a bargain. Sorry Michael, but that makes it cheap, not a bargain... However "we have a talex lite and it is very very good. We got it for £40 from somerfield".. Now that is a bargain (at less than half of its retail value)...........
michael
Sorry Michael, but that makes it cheap, not a bargain... Each to their own, a 1p saving is a bargain to someone from Yorkshire. However "we have a talex lite and it is very very good. We got it for £40 from somerfield".. Now that is a bargain (at less than half of its retail value)........... Agreed but if you pop down to Somerfield today will they have any?
