Bobbeh
In what sense do you perceive this? Class and social standing snobbery? Car related snobbery e.g TT v NA or J-spec v UK? My gripe isnt to do with any of that. The txt speak issue is a fair one because we want this to be a useful resource to existing and potential owners, not a place full of jibberish no one understands. I just get annoyed at the trolls who come on here to misinform (usually unintentionally), wind up, threaten, verbally abuse others and those who try lord it over others in various ways who have no serious interest or 'passion' in the car like a normal club member does. IMHO these sorts of people need to be eliminated from the BB as it makes it irritating reading some of the threads. I try and avoid people like this in RL and dont want to put up with that sort of person on here too. I know theres the ignore button but its hard to follow some threads sometimes when a good portion the discusson is removed. It doesnt matter to me where someone gets their car from, what spec it is, what they want to do to it, if they ask opinion they'll get it etc, but they're free to do what they want with their car. Thats what this forum is about meeting people with similar interest, getting help and ideas and opinions off others and lets keep it that way please

Ewen
Ref Bobbehs input....well said, and theres possibly a good case for the tech section being policed heavier than the more open to opinion sections. Im not in a position to add much of benefit to the tech section, but I personally wouldnt take it to heart if say, certain members who start a tech thread had some say in who could post replies / comments in said thread, or if the mods decided what was tech enough to stay in the tech section once posted there. That may go somewhere toward middle ground.

Tom S
i joined this forum for one goal and one goal only, to find out about the car that i love and to have a laugh and possible meet other people that share the passion, and enjoy my time here with some good banter and nonsense. a forum is a place for discussion and venting your feelings so that they are open for discussion and could possible be sorted out. everyones guilty of a little snobbery some just take it further than others. Can't agree more. I joined in 2004, and it has been a roller coaster ride, I remeber sitting around at JAE after the drive with my seat bust. Jake (yes him) fixing it and manually removing it so I could drive the Supra home with ease, loads of beers later a pickled egg contest. Followed by hordes of Doughnuts the next day. And the help from this club has always been superb. When it came to the club looking for Events mod's I put my name down as did a few others and we took our area's and tried to do our best. Made even more friends and went around the country building the club up. 2 weeks ago I sold my Supra, and bought the Aristo, like a few members on here I stayed on because I felt a part of the family, as you all welcomed me in and the banter from some was better than others. Now I don't know, recently some have become very touchy with anything said and you just don't know whether a comment will be taken the right or wrong way. I don't think the club has a chav element and don't think it will. If it does then I am quite sure any one who acts like a chav will be hounded out by the older generation. I don't ask as many technical questions as the amount of stuff in there is enourmous and helps me reguarly. The problem as I see it, is that everything changes and some people don't want it to or won't change with it. This club is about all of it's members, the older ones and the younger ones. As where do old supra drivers come from? the young people of course. Sorry just realised how much i have wrote, probably get told off for that as well. Lastly, We all make this club what it is GREAT. I remember a thread recently by tony (Flat4) when everyone (me included) went off on one. No recriminations etc and now Tony is a member of this club and respected, just cos he no longer has a Supra doesn't mean he is not a OK guy, he is. (Sorry about all the male bit girls, your all important too)Honestly
SupraStar 3000
good points Tom. Both Flat-4 and Jazz1 both seemed unlikely candidates for member of the year, yet both seem to have adjusted and been accepted

smithaldo
Just out of interest how can someone reading a post possibly know that the person posting is a chav?? I can't see any chav element within the club personally. Fair enough I'm a new member of the club, and when I've asked questions I have generally got the advice I was seeking but at no point have I felt put down by any comments (maybe I haven't been here long enough yet) that have been posted in any of my threads. In fact, a certain member of the club is doing me a great favor and helped me get my Supra back on the road for a lot less than it would have cost me elsewhere. Thats why I joined. To get knowledge of my favorite car and also technical advice that I require. All I can say is that for £10 I've benefitted gratelly with the knowledge of experts and also get to have a good laugh at some of the post's put up. So thanks to everyone involved with the club, hope I get to meet some of you soon. Ash

Kittyclaws
I think this site is great. I can't stay away from it. I do not own a Supra yet, but hope to next year, so at the moment spend most of my time in the off topic section, with the odd search for info when i start thinking about stuff, running costs etc, so i have an idea what to expect when i buy one. So far i have found all the info i need, which goes to show what a great site this is
ivan
I too joined the site to learn about the Supra. And I certainly haven't been let down. As for the "younger element"? This place would be a very boring one if we were all 40 somethings. We need different sorts of people to bring variety and a bit of spice to the place - and it gives me a good laugh reading some of the "arguments". When I joined up , I was asked for a user name and e-mail address... I was not asked 'Do you intend to flood the forum with naff jokes............. Somebody missed a trick there.
