Matt 6
Everyone tends to dislike work most of the time, I know I do!! But for once I REALLY like it For my sins I have been given a Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG for the weekend along with a company fuel card, oh what fun!!!!! 500 bhp of convertible fun and the weather here at the minute is gorgeous. Finished work at 16:30 and have only been in the house for the last 20 minutes, managed to use quater tank of fuel all ready too!! :d Only down side to this is my Supra will be ready to use tomorrow, so which do I use then??????? I had totally forgotten about it till just now when the missus reminded me, doh!! If I get done in time I will pop over in either of the cars. Next month I am at the British F1 GP for the weekend so it will be July now before I get to the Bubble again to see everyone, not fair!!!

Simon K
So, give us an idea of how the car drives / feels compared to your supra. A Merc SL is on my list of cars and a little voice in my head is trying to convince me to get one. So, acceleration, speed, feel, tell us all, would be interested in your thoughts. Whats the fuel consumption like ? SBK
Pete
I've always seen the Mercs as an old mans car and haven't enjoyed the ones I drove at all. Too lush, smooth, no driving fun. I drove an SLK and CLK on a track day. (amongst other stuff) These latest crop look fantastic though.
Matt 6
Well, after a weekend of smokin' round in this 500bhp+ convertible I am quite impressed I have had these cars before but they always manage to bring a big smile to my face and keep me entertained Now if I ever had the money I would have one of these, even though the spec of car I have got is well over £100,000 !!!!! Probably the closest thing to a bike that I have ever driven, including Ferrari's, Bentley's, Porkers etc... 5.5 ltr Supercharged V8 with an exhaust note to die for. Doesn't sound like a car at all, more like a fighter jet when it is on full throttle The car has got switchable traction on it which makes for some fun in the right places. Can manage to light the wheels up in almost ever gear with the damp roads we have had over the weekend. Also has switchable sports suspension. This makes alot of difference when you start to drive the car hard. You can feel the difference straight away, you feel ever last bump in the road and it loose all body roll and feels like it will go round any corner at any speed. This particular car is chipped and de-restricted so is surposed to be around 520 bhp and the customer has claimed managing over 200 leptons on the M1 late at night in it!!! I personally have seen between 175 - 180 leptons and it was still pulling like it was in 3rd!!!!! The whole car is great, even when you are cruising with the top up or down. Seats are orthapeadic masaging heated leather which is nice, suede cluster dash top with rather nice old English White dials. Built in Sat Nav, Tv, Cd player ect are all standard equipment. Keyless Go starting is a nice touch, none of this French crap where you have to put a card in the dash and press a button!!!! The key stays in your pocket, touch the exterior handle and the car opens, get in sit down and press the brake pedal and hold it down, then press a button on top of the gear lever and away you go!!! Looks real impressive to people. Ofcause you can't forget the amazing convertible hardtop, now this is a piece of machanical amazement. One button is all it takes. Press this button and hold it and within 10 -15 secs the roof is down and you are ready to cruise, just quick enough to drop the top at the traffic lights in town Overall this car is great, alot better built than the Italian Super Cars and drives a damn site better too. They are coming down in price now and with the SL65 AMG now available and the face-lift car coming out soon it should make them even cheaper. Lets hope the next time I get one of these that it is nice and hot!!!!
