Scooter
Its a very simple procedure that can turn out to be a right pain. The 2 pins that locate the pads on UK calipers can sieze........once the wheels are off if you can remove these with some pliers then it will be plain sailing..........i'll try and find a link........... Scooter
Here's a not so successful story..... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=66788&highlight=brake+pads
Suprasteve
I had exactly that, 3 of the 4 wheels were easy(ish) but one of the pins were a complete bastard to get out. good luck. - rather you than me.
Scooter
i don't want to put you off though................if i were you i'd chose front or rear and jack which up and then try the pins on both sides. A pair of pliers that allow you to clamp down behind the domed heads of these pins will help alot.
Scooter
Pliers like these http://www.toolbank.com/product.cfm?CFID=3626620&CFTOKEN=33213633&rID=1&code=KPX5101210&nx=1D4987AC017326EB8C24EDB21E4BB7AEa09v01 will get behind the heads and just by clamping down you should move them out a little. Twisting and pulling on stubborn ones should expose enough to get some molegrips on it radially, which will let you apply lots more twisting force which 'should' free it up enough.......... Ray
There are some other kinda springy pins which seem to connect to each pad, does anyone know what there role is? Sorry i dont seem to have a picture to hand but i presume someone knows what i am talking about.
merckx
Anti-rattle.
Ian C
You can also use one pin as a driver to tap out the stuck one with a hammer. Anything else mushroons the end of the pin and stops it from fitting through the hole -Ian
Bobbeh
^ Thats what we did on mine. Knock the buggers out, thankfully they werent too much of a pain to get out.
Ian C
Bet you didn't break a 5/8" ratchet undoing the caliper bolts though. The subsequent sudden lack of resistance culminated in me punching myself in the face quite hard. I was less than pleased by this juncture. -Ian
Bobbeh
No, luckily I had my mechanic buddy do most of the hard grafting, I got the wheels off for him (oh and somehow managed to scuff my knuckles doing that)
