Guest mk47
rayman the triangle thing on 50s when you rub paper on it is correct.. it rubs off onto the paper.. it also works on £5 notes where that bluey sort of circle is and rubs off blue ink onto paper
ivan
When I bought Tims car I paid the extra £25 and transfered it straight into his account. It still took a day or two to show up there though - and I bet he was sweating as much as me over the deal. At least he hadn't given over the keys... Rayman
Thanks guys for the info, did you use BACS when you paid it straight into his account Ivan,? Anyways weve agreed on her giving me a chaque now and waiting for it to clear before i release the car. Can you fast track a cheque to clear by paying more? I heard you could pay extra to prioritise the cheque
Feakins
You can do, depends, which bank you paying it in to? Its not really worth it though cos that way they post it and its bloody risky, many a time people have done that where I work and by the time it gets there its longer than paying it in normally. Just wait for it to clear mate.

Rayman
Cheers guys cheque seems better for me providing i let it clear first!
Feakins
Lol dont want to make you more paranoid but some cheques take up to 12 days to clear, however all banks have a set time of say 3 days. So in theory you could wait for it to clear and then it could still bounce. Very unlikely with a draft though, I would of thought they get checked a lot quicker than personal cheques. If I was you dude just wait for it to clear and I would hand over the keys if it was my car.

Charlotte
I think it's been already said but a genuine bankers draft is cleared funds and therefore as good as cash because it has been honoured by the bank. We only accept banker's drafts for deposits at work. Because of money laundering we can't take any cash over £500.
Pete
thats only cos the bloke who bought it off you was a dodgy c*nt I was thinking more about Mr P'oko rather than Mertoc...although I think I did that with you too?
Rayman
Thanks everyone for your help with this, ended up getting cash and going to the bank straight away with it. Everything went fine, was just getting worried for no reason really, cash is easiest way really for both parties involved if they want to take the car straight away. BACS isn't clear. It takes 3 days for it to come through. They normally set up wages and things with BACS so everyone gets it at the same time. CHAPS is a telegraphic transfer so it's instant, it gets to your bank the same day.

afennell
This has been an interesting for me, If you get a chaps transfer can you check your acount and the money be there straight away. I like the idea of the buyer ordering the money in your high street.
Feakins
Not exactly straight away, but its same day transfer if done before 2pm. Depends on the bank though probably. Some might be done within 10 minutes.
