R33 GTR - gearbox issue

Hi

Ive got a friend who owns an imported R33 GTR.

Recently whilst driving it the gearbox stuck in 3rd gear and he couldnt get it out of gear until the gearbox had cooled down.

He drained the gearbox oil and noticed a small piece of metal which 'had features'. He thinks it may be part of the selector system, and doesnt appear to be a bearing or part of a gear.

Is this a common fault on these cars?....and are gearbox issues a big £££ issue on them?

Cheers

Simon

Not really common, but I've seen a few broken boxes. The old datsun isn't quite as reliable as the Supra ;)

Theres normally plenty S/H boxes kicking around, tell him to look on http://www.gtr.co.uk. Alternatively most of the Skyline specialists will rebuild it without massive costs.

Gaz.
