Scoboblio
As far as I'm concerned the ocassional quiet personal call is fine and part of life - there are much more important things than work - friends / family are two of them. Especially if you carry on working. But one of my major annoyances is people who leave the room every 5 minutes and stand in the stairwell! (where anyone who uses the stairs on any floor can hear you - nice work idiot), with their mobile plastered to their ear. It's all about professionalism I think, you can still deal with your personal life during the working day and remain professional at work. letmeshowyou
The policy where I am is that mobiles should be off, however if my team give me something, they get something in return - they're in early or working late, I don't complain about the odd text or phone call. I do insist on them being silent though.
tbourner
I'm the same as Michael, we've got an open policy on phones there aren't any rules basically - but it's always the same people who leave them on their desk to go to the printer or even to a meeting, and it just rings every 5 minutes with the most annoying tones!!! grrrrrr.
