Mike
or would it be cheaper than all that drag you'd create with the windows down?!

mattanna
They can reduce bhp by 10-15bhp when on too and will take about another 5mpg too, i am the same, but was so hot today had it on, tight arsed bastard that i am? Matt
andrew7
I tend to turn on the A/C until the pipes are cold and then use just the fan until the pipes warm up again. Dunno whether this save gas or not but means I use the A/C pretty sparingly and still stay reasonably cool....
imi
didnt it potentially rob Dashrendar off 50bhp when his car was on the dyno with the AC on??

Matt No way will it make 5mpg difference on a Supra. In fact I've never been able to spot any difference at all in fuel consumption or power. I mean some on, you're talking about a 320bhp car here, not a Micra!
michael
Mine is on constantly - I'm at the temp I want to be, I'd prefer that to having 50p extra in my pocket each week.
Ewen
I saw the Mythbusters episode mentioned above......at low speeds AC robs more mpg than having the windows open. higher speeds totherway round. By the by, anyone used one of those AC cleaning 'bombs' ? Are they as much fun as they sound ?
Hobgoblin
But its great if you have to sit in traffic on a hot day, windows closed and cool as you like. I dont drive a Supra for the mpg, its purely a fun thing, and as such a few more quid doesnt really matter to me.
