BTW I know Mark at Phoenix has a load of 2.5mm as someone's car is with him, and the tuner, has installed 2.5mm shims in every bucket... JohnA Posted May 13, 2006 Share Posted May 13, 2006 It's also best to measure clearances *after* valve seats etc have been cleaned, lapped and the like. In some cases lapping can lead to the need for a different shim (valve moves closer to the cam) Have them double-check valve clearances *again* after the new shims are in place. You never know. I had a 3 angle exhaust and 5 angle inlet valve job and the HKS cams, which probably explains why I had little or no clearance. I am doing all the work myself and being very thorough.
