SUPRALOOPY
Listen guys, theres no exageration, i said it like it was, even when there was that whole post by Shaf, i could have easily dropped in and explained away a time i got stopped etc but i did not, but this was just wrong. a typical pull story by the way you say it. the standard snide comments and wasting your time and then the producer:taped: Racist maybe/maybe bored deffinetly:( well while that was happening my house got burgled....and where were they????? andrew7
Next time, pre-emp them, i.e. find the first safe place and pull yourself over before they do. I'd have done it as soon as they pulled level with you and then dropped back. Then get out of your car and stand sideways to them them with your arms folded (non-agressive) and wait for them to get out of their car... You could also be seen to be writing down their reg number and looking at your watch, noting the time of the "incident".. This sets a different tone for the "interview" in that you are showing you are not scared of being stopped and if they are just pi$$ing you about you would take it further.. Thorin
Is it racist though? Do police stop black/asian people more than white folks driving the same cars? Do black/asian women or b/a middle aged people get pulled over all the time? No. They don't. Not in my experience anyway, not from what I've seen of people getting pulled over by the police. It's usually young black/asian males. So why is that? Is it because policemen are racist or is it because their experience has taught them that young black and asian men are more likely to be 'productive' stops in some way? Barney
Some would say they have a job to do.......................correct, and I bloody well wish they would get on with it and try and catch some real crims, intead of stupid antics such as this. Target chasing. Who saw the program a few weeks ago about a reporter who got a job as a copper and did a undercover report and film about what went on. Racism, sexism, they even went out on the night shift in patrol cars and played hide and seek. Didn't bother responing to public phone calls because they were due off shift soon, dodging response calls whilst out in patrol cars.......and we the public pay their wages, now that really is a crime. Shameful.
Tom S
I've a mate who is a traffic copper, when their bored they play snooker in the cars, and stop red then colour, so black cars are worth 7 points red 1 point etc, waste of time.......
Guest sunnyG83
guys i gotta agree in alot of ways with Wkdtime as im an asian lad and have been pulled 13 times since november when i got the Supra and its never been at night or pub closing times, dunno if it was due to race or not and im up in Edinburgh. Funniest thing is that they pulled me on the Dual carrige way 2 week's as i was doing 72mph they said and wanted to check the car, so they did and never found anything wrong until DUM dum dum shock horror they found a driverside fog light was out. They then said that my car was not fit to be on the road and asked me my Mum and my brother-in-law to walk to the next service station which was sign posted 2miles away, too Which i pissed myself and said to him dont you think its kinda dangerous to which he replied "i think you'll make it", i just looked at him and laughed in his face which made him angry but i really could not beleive what he was wanting us to do. So i requested that he calls for back-up as i was not going to carry out his request and wanted a second opinion as i knew he was talking BS. He then said that i would be knicked to which i replied go ahead as it means that i dont have to walk 2 miles along the dual carrigeway or use any petrol to which cause him to shut it and he told me to be on my way. So i guess you could say that i must have met a slightly silly Policeman, dont worry i got his and his partners names and number and am gonna be in our local paper now yipee sorry for the rather large reply
ChrisSZ
If you get stopped on a regular basis do what I did once (a few years ago). Firstly I always took a set of notes, noted down their car number and their individual numbers, date, time etc (always wound the fuck out of them LOL). I also went round each police station in my area with my docs and insisted that someone checked them over. I don't get hassle much now as most of the local cops know me :)
SupraHuman
The same thing happend to me two years ago on boxing day.I was out driving in the morning, got a red light and pulled up next to a cop car.As the light turned green I smoked the cop car of the line but did not exceed the speed limit which is 40mph at that spot.He followed me around for about 10 mins.Every time i had to slow down at a traffic light or a junction he would stop about 15-20 meter behind.Got me so pissed off that i pulled into a lay-by and he had no choise but to carry on.200m further down he had pulled into a big lay-by next to a ice-cream truck.I pulled up behind him went over to the passenger side of the cop car and knocked on the window. The female copper did not want to open at first so i knocked again, she opend the window half way down and I asked if they were following me.To which she replyed NO.I said sound, wished them a merry x-mas and drove off.Never heard another word.I recon they were just bored and just looking for someone to nail.Clowns
Ian R
Its a tough one this one but many will vouch that I have been pulled over more than my fair of times and I got followed by a Police car just yesterday after he did a U-Turn. Are the police racist well I would say yes but not against colour (IMO) but against the car you drive. TBH it I bought a Supra and enjoy the attention it draws however it does also draw the attention of the police but you've gotta take the rough with the smooth. Pete
Here's what I'd do: Start a log. Note down times, places and PC numbers. Always remain polite and do not give them any ammo. If you're feeling particularly victimised by their comments perhaps record audio on your mobile. (This will undoubtedly piss them off though and conflict with no.3). If it's as regular as you say then write in with your evidence asking why you are being targetted when no one else you know in the area has been stopped in the last x months/years. tbourner
I agree with Jake but wouldn't have said it for fear of being called racist (which I'm not BTW). Especially in major cities it will be black/asian kids who are the most likely to carry weapons and be involved in incidents of 'larger' scale crime - that's a fact that can be proven by statistics. So obviously the police will be more likely to pull them over because they are a higher risk. They don't know you personally they can only go on a stereotype, which is why they always seem to 'pick on' young drivers (dangerous boy racers/speeding are mostly young drivers) or black/asian people. The problem arises because they are on a power trip, all police seem to be sarcastic gits (even the ones I know personally!!). They could easily have pulled you, checked you out, checked your car if they felt necessary, and let you go - no need to make the other car drive off without you, no need to be shitty with producers etc (which BTW if you had all your documents there they can't give you a producer - don't bother taking your docs in). Terminator
It sounds like you were unlucky. In any public service there are bound to be racists. So many pulls in such a short time has to have other than road traffic associated motives. I am white and middle aged I have been pulled a few times, only one was for an infringement, a small front number plate. I think he had just read some memo about lettering sizes. I pleaded ignorant and got told to go on my way. Other times I could see not reason, so I got out of the car and walked to wards them before they could get capped up and out of the car. Nothing too aggressive but very assertive. I always ask why I have been stopped before I answer and question, even the is this your vehicle sir. Lost my rag with them once as they had no reason I had only driven 200 yards in a 30, I got away with it. If you are being pulled frequently, taking notes and badge numbers, details of time stopped, reason for pull and time allowed on your way etc is good advice. If they have a genuine reason to stop them then your note taking is not going to bother them in the slightest. But if their motives are suspect, it will probably shorten the time they want to spend with you. If you continued to get pulled, take a copy all your notes to you local nick addressed to the chief officer asking for an explanation for each occasion. Sunny that pull and the fog light. Is totally out of order and sounds like blatant racism and abuse of their authority. Scum like that should not be in the force, they give decent offers a bad name. Generally I think so, blaming it on racism is wrong! They want results, don't forget they've got a job to do. It's difficult to comment on individual cases though, there are racists in all walks of life unfortunately.

Thorin
The racism card gets played all too often nowadays. At Uni a mate of mine got arrested for assault after getting into a fight on a night out. The other guy (who happened to be a local and asian) reported my mate to the police saying he attacked him without provocation. The police were claiming it was an unprovoked racist attack (I don't know if the other guy atcually claimed it was racist or not). What actually happened was the guy was being a dick and started pushing my mate around while they were playing pool and my mate just hit back. It was in no way, shape, or form racist. But yesterday night it was much more than annoying, i was made to be felt like shit and my mate wasnt a happy bunny after being asked if he had a visa.
