CardiffSupra
Went Surfing down Swansea on Sunday, While we were having a game of footie on the beach i found a set of car keys with a Mini keyring attached. The keys were new so i put 2+2 together and after a long hard think figured out i was looking for a new shape Mini Me and a mate looked around the car park and while pressing the lock/unlock button on the key found the car they belonged to. I then left some paper with my number on under the wiper hoping someone would call before i left. After 3hrs no call, I waited by the car for another 30mins but still nothing. At this time the gate house had shut so i had nowhere to leave the keys, What was i supposed to do? I know how gutted i would be if i lost my keys so i hung around a little longer. We come up with many idears one of them was to leave the keys on the seat or floor, But i know some of these new cars lock them selfs after an amount of time and didnt was to lock the guys keys in the car. Anyway the only thing we could think of doing was leaving my number under the wiper and in the car(incase it rained) and leave the keys on top of the brake disks where noone could see them. I didnt leave anything about keys on the note due to randoms ringing up and getting a free car. On the way home i got a call from a guy saying "Hiya mate have you got my keys?" I told him where they were but he didnt seem very greatful at all, just a quick Thank you, Bye. Its the only thing i could think of doing i just hope it was the right person i told and i would like to think someone would do the same for me one day, Id be alot more greatful let me tell you! Did i do the right thing? Ga

merckx
You did the right thing. I probably would have asked him somehow to prove that the car was his before I told him the location of the keys. Edit . It must've been the right person as he asked for the keys without you mentioning it on the note. Very community spirited ! The ungrateful sod. Charlotte
I wish nice people like you were around all the time. I think you definitely did the right thing, like you say you didn't mention the keys on the note so.... Plus the owner didn't have any messing around getting to a police station. Good on you.
