Guest mk47
about 6 weeks ago my bro was involved in a VERY nasty accident with a drunk driver, who hit my bro head on at around 90mph head on.. in a volvo estate tank.. anyway my bro was driving a passat and the result was really bad.. the front end of the passat was torn to peices and pushed him back into a wall.. where the rear end of the car took hard impact. luckily there was no1 else in the car at the time.. the driver of the volvo ran off... left my bro there - lucky he is a big lad and in the end only suffered 2 fractured ankles. but the driver of the volvo handed himself in the next day - to reveal he has no insurance. a few days ago the police rang to say "he wasnt insured theres not much we can do" so what the f*k to the police actually do? besides play hide n seek? (im from leicester aswell!!) anyway, heres a pic of the car as it is outside his house.. jus lookin to get a few bottles of t cut and get to work haha
Gaz6002
holy shit thats bad. Sorry for your brother mate. I reckon the only thing you can do is sue the bloke who did it? If he ain't got insurance then he's the only one who can pay for it I guess.
Prof. Monkey
Insurance ombudsman, they are there for certain eventualities, they sometimes look at cases of uninsured loss. Otherwise get a very good solicitor, the law (ahem) is on your side.
Kopite
Shocking! So what are they actually doing to punish him? Any jail time? Surely they've got to lock him up seeing as though he left the scene.

Guest mk47
oh sorry forgot to mention.. he was insured third party only as this was only used as a taxi at night..hes got himself a newer passat now and not made the mistake of insuring himself tpo. well the police as far as i know have said that they cant do anything its beyond their control since the guy wasnt insured.. and are still 'investigating' more like playin hide n seek n watchin animal porn. and how stupid is this... police corresponded with my bro a few days after the incident which left him in crutches.. anyway they sent him an email with the drivers address... now someone tell me is that not asking for trouble? but they did us a favour because if they dont do anythin to him then my brother is in the mind of putting him in some crutches! the law is fucked up sorry to say, unfair. DrivingTheDream
Really spooky as the same thing happened to a lads brother that my brother works with a month or 2 ago. He was driving a Passat involved with a drunk driver, at a similar speed and at no fault-Unfortunatley he was not so lucky. I couldnt imagine losing my brother. Glad your brother is ok mate as that looked serious.
Pete
"he wasnt insured theres not much we can do" Again - another example of where there should be a state loan system where these f*ckers are made to pay money back to pay for what their actions have done. Guest mk47
cheers for that link col i will pass it on to my bro soon as hes back from holiday next week. apart from that if police dont do anything and nothing comes of it then definately my brother will have the guy decapitated coz it left him out of a job for a while and was due to start working for footlocker europe as a manager! due to him not being able to travel they had to withdraw the offer which left him f*ckd and no income. whta a bitch! Angarak
you might want to tape that wheel on to get it through the next MOT Glad to hear your brother is ok considering. Surely the police can prosecute the driver for (i) driving with no insurance, and (ii) leaving the scene of an accident Then your bro can sue him on top, and if he cant pay it declare him bankrupt and fuck up his life (then send the boys around to his address just so he gets the message)
