What is this?

Can anyone tell me for sure what this one -way valve does? Whilst the engine is out I have removed all the uneccesary gubins (pressure tank/vacume lines that were assoc with the twins etc)

But am a little baffled by this.

i removed that a long tome ago and had no problems. cant remember what it used to do now though. isnt it something to do with the charcoal canister?

Think you are right Lee, it seems to head off in that direction, but I removed that ages ago. Thought it may have been connected to the pressure tank (which I have also binned)

It's the check valve for the EVAP system (the charcoal cannister). I think it's basic job is to stop boost pressure from presurising the cannister when you're under boost, but I must admit I don't really understand how the purge on the cannister works looking at the plumbing diagram!

Basically you have four lines going into the cannister. The bottom one lets fresh air in when the cannister is purged. One goes to the fuel tank, one goes to the intake and the other gets Td off to that check valve and to a VSV that controlls the purging of the cannister.

Yeah, it's part of the meissiones (OMG that typo stays for posterity) ahem, emissions system. I ditched everything after the check valve but as it seems to stop the engine sucking in air through that little apeture I left that in and tucked it under the throttle body.

The emissions system is very complex, it circulates fuel vapours and so forth around in many varied ways depending on engine speed, throttle position, load, etc. Which means I couldn't be arsed to fathom it all out before storing it on the shelf :)

Probably explains the faint smell of petrol I now permanently have in the garage :rlol:
