Looks great Matt nice one

The guide on here is for fitting the copy ones that are sold on ebay which is why it was different with the genuine Toyota ones.

If anyone else wants facelift clear indicators and clear side repeaters I can supply both, drop me a pm or email for details.

cheers

hey Nic, do the Toyota ones that I bought from you a few weeks ago come with the looms? im guessing they did as one of them had a long wire poking out of it...

or do i still need to buy the facelift looms like it says in the instructions? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=31633

The original facelift indicators come with a loom on one side only as standard (just the way the attach to the facelift wiring loom). See pic attached, you can either use you old loom to fabricate a new one (this is what I would do personally) or buy a new one. The loom you need though is for the opposite side and has a different bulb holder fit. So to make it fit you need to modify the slots and tabs to make in the other indicator.

How do these pop out ?

slide forward and they come out ?

just pull on them ?

I don't want to bust/scratch anything.

There is a sprung plastic clip that holds them in behind, slide a slim screw driver down the front (I think) between the side marker and the body, press the clip in and it should just pull out. I think the spring clip is at the front from memory, if not try the same at the back of the side maker, they should come out very easily.

Woaw, hang on there, dont just stick a scewdriver in! make sure you rap the head in a cloth or duster etc, otherwise your going to sratch the paintwork.

Basically, sticking a screw driver in at any location will work, i think the best place would be the top however, slide in and lever out (easy tho, keep the paintwork intact!)

Sticking a screwdriver in any location especially the top and levering it out is NOT the way to remove them..

I wasn't saying to use the screw driver to lever them out, but to push in the sprung plastic clip on the inside (front I think), this needs compressing to release the side marker. Alternatively if you slide the side marker backwards there may be enough movement to release it.

I got them out with my fingers :)

Here are the bulbs I got from Halfrauds (I asked a member of staff to go into the Chav section for me :p ) and you can see the difference between the stock orange and the silver bulbs.

1st impressions - yes it removes what little orange was there but, with the lenses that I have, you can only see the orange part when looking at an angle anyway - not straight on.

Here are some pics, with the light flashing and with them off - pre and post change.

I'll have to test them at night too as I noticed the orange is not as bright but, I thought this would happen for daytime.

  • 1 month later...

"I decided to go down the additional side light route"

I'm doing this mod at the mo and was wondering which wire you spliced the 'new' side light into? From the cars loom (the sidelight bit with a small connector), I've got a white (earth I presume) and two green ones (a thin solid, and a thicker green/orange). I'm thinking the greens join together?

Sorry to impatient and not wait for your 'quick guide'.
