Daston
Ok I paid out £1995 on a MR2 a couple of years ago the car had very high milage but was ok and was vetted but 3 weeks later the head went with a pop, cracked cylinder and blown gasket plus ruined altinator total bill over 1k, the car then went on for 3 months before the main coolent pipe went now this was a bugger as it ran the length of the car cost 120 to fix I just wish I listened to my Dad and older bro and saved the extra 1k and got a far better one to begin with. All i am saying is if your friend can hold on and save his pennys then it is a good thing and he will get a far better motor at the end of the day instead of having a really good looking car that dosnt move and eats up insurance and tax
chris aka fonz
I cant imagine it being much for that sort of price , if it were me id rather buy an mr2 turbo than a bottom end off the scope supra ! As said before you would probably spend that again putting things right .
DrivingTheDream
Yup agreed with the above. You almost always get what you pay for in life. For that price I wouldnt expect much TBH.

carl0s
Lots of NAs go for £4k. Should pick one up for £3.5k if he spends some time looking at a few and making offers.
Scooter
Like Tinkerbell you got to go look at these lower priced cars........... .........some people want to shift their cars quickly, anyone been to a Ford dealer looking for a p/x with their NA 93/94 supra? i bet you'd be shocked by the p/x offer. If you are after a NA then whats to go wrong with it? when was the last "I've brought a NA and its turned into a money pit" thread? NA buying proceedure, 1) turn up 2) check body work and panel gaps (a non repaired supra has very consistant panel gaps) 3) Check oil and coolant (in the rad and expansion tank) and look under the car for any fluid leaks. 4) start the engine (check its stone cold), check for oil from exhaust (there won't be any) 5) Test drive, check clutch, gear operation, test abs, brake straight?, take it down a bumpy road and check the ride/shocks out 6) during drive check heater gets very hot and Aircon blows very cold. 7) at end of test drive, leave it running and pop the bonnet, check expansion tank level and areas around the rap cap for signs of coolant. 8a) if all ok and your happy to make an offer, base it on a figure less money for things that might cost you in the next few weeks ie tyres brake pads/disks etc 8b) if you don't like it look at the next one down on the list do this and you'll end up with a car thats more reliable than many new ones. At £3.5K you are at the lowest end of the market so you will have to forgive the car some wear and tear inside and out, and it won't look "da sh*t" outside maccy d's, but it won't necessarily be a liablility/money pit.. I was realy only wanting to know if anyone knew anyone that was selling a cheap soop, as he likes to do cars up anyway! Sorry should have specified in my thread! Thanks though thats ok, not particularly aimed at you per se, just reinforcing the facts that there's not alot to go wrong with NA's and that in this price range a buyer can see/feel why it might be priced low. If it all looks and drives good there are very few pitfalls or bad things that could later come to light IMO............

JODY T
A mate bought a NA for around 3.5K, its an Auto SZ. Proper basic no ABS etc, and Silver but its a nice motor, and the engine is rock solid. Only thing was silly things like no spare wheel, exhaust trim etc. Easily fixed though. Just dont buy the first you see... Theres always a better one out there... Craig David
You'd get a 300ZX TT for that. Arguably a better car too.
