Green Peace
Still trying to find these... You can get LED rear light/indicator bulbs now for most other cars...but not for the Supra. Can Anyone shed some light on this... They are just plug in bulbs but cant find them with the same fitting, whoever can source these will make a lot of money as everyone will want them and should cost us no more than £15 for two. Am I ahead of my time...I mean even Busses and traffic lights have them these days...and most new cars...The Supras have been left behind it seems. If one of the Traders Envy, Miami Rice, Paul Wiffen can find them we could do a 'big' group buy. Cheers Si
400BHP
TRY THIS
albundy68
the problem is the mountings for the bulbs in the rear lights, the bulbs are mounted vertically, like they would be in say, a table lamp. Then the light is focused from the bulb using a reflective surround behind the bulb. Not like in many cars where the bulbs are horizontally mounted with their tops facing out of the rear of the car, (like if you glued your table lamp to a wall) so... you can get LED lights that fit the mountings but they'll be pointing in the wrong direction, and LEDs need to be pointing in the direction that theyre gonna be used, (not like the bulbs). so... you need a led light with a 90 degree bend between the part that mounts and the part that shines. and i need to get a life and stop playing with my 3 sets of rear light clusters!!! (my supes been at dudes for far too long...) (oh n the bulbs chris is on about will be facing up not out so wont work properly, - thats what i was getting at above...) Green Peace
Cheers Chris and Abundy68... Please let us know how you get on Chris...they are far cheaper than I thought... MUST be a way of fitting them somehow...we can't let these BMW's intimidate us with their rear LED's not that they spend much time in front of us.. The Car in Front is a Supra
albundy68
trust me, cant be done without getting the LEDs that are on chris's site streeeeeetching them out and bending them 90 degrees, i looked long and hard into it, coz ive been trying to put together the first set of clear facelift clusters, - but unfortunately its impossible, - and not coz of bulb availability, though thats not great, its all to do with the fact that your 2 centre lenses are slightly larger than the 2 outside ones in the cluster... oh i could bore you for hours with useless cluster related info... Matt B
If the above is true and it cannot be done. How do these guys do it with LED's? See this...
albundy68
didnt say it couldnt be done, i said you need to bend the LED 90 degrees from its mounting, these guys obviously have come up with a way, but it aint as simple as fitting the LED bulbs chris was on about, if only it was... See this... nice one Matt But prob is with mine I had the Fog light conversion I wonder how it'll work or if someone can come up with this kind of thing with built in fog lights...I spose that can be done...but that website is pointing in the right direction just need someone over here to see a bit of potential and then I'm sure a lot of people would pay to have this done or buy a DIY kit.....I certainly would. Matt B
Al, No offence intended mate, I just wondered how they were doing it... I've sent them a mail to get some prices. Maybe we could get a group buy going??? Cheers Matt B
albundy68
none taken at all fella, maybe im spending too much time locked in a room with 'my precious' ...i mean my rear clusters. i'd be interested in a group buy as long as they werent astronomically priced, n since they need you to either send them a pair of clusters, or buy a new set im guessin they aint gonna be cheap, bet they look class though! if i ever get a digi cam ill do a pic of my modded facelift clusters, they look pretty good, and'll look better when i get the surrounds spreyed to match the car colour. FilS004
Hi, I just bought these, and they work perfectly http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/380-Ultimate-Canbus-92-SMD-LED-Bulb.html I had to get resistors to make the amber led bulbs flash at the correct speed, but they all work very well. SupraStar 3000
Marty McFly: Wait a minute, Doc. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a Supra? Dr. Emmett Brown: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?
