Changing battery

Parksy

Recommended Posts

Okay, it appears after having my battery tested it is broken (not holding charge etc).

I am picking a new one up today. However I am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of when swapping the battery over. Will the ECU reset when it is disconected for just a few minutes? Or will all be just as it was?

The only other thing I could think of is if my alarm decides it needs to be recoded for the fobs (already sorted this from the Sigma instructions). But was just concerned there may be something else I am overlooking?

Any help appreciated.

Dave

EDIT: Should have said the car is a 94 n/a if that is at all applicable?

The ECU will rest when you fit a new battery, this isn't a problem though.

Not 100% sure about the alarm, make sure it's not armed even if there isn't a switch on the bonnet.

I know with some alarms you can have porblems if you remove the battery without disarming the alarm first.

I'm good with the alarm, after it died last time I had to reprogramme my two fobs before it would arm/disarm the imobiliser again.

Was more the ECU I was worried about. Is nothing affected by it resetting, or is it just a case of it relearning over the next x ammount of miles i do?
