mikeyb10supra
A boost controller would be good, but I'm not prepared to spend that sort of money if a bleed valve will work. I'll be very careful when adjusting it. better than spending it on a rebuilt engine later down the line...proceed with caution, buy cheap, pay later
merckx
better than spending it on a rebuilt engine later down the line...proceed with caution, buy cheap, pay later Quite a few on here think they're better, Chris Wilson prefers them. He's got a fair amount of experience! Bleed valves don't get confused by the sequential twin turbo operation, they are cheaper, more reliable, don't clutter up an interior with no obvious places for gizmos with things that look like a bit fallen off a kids Nova, they are set in a couple of minutes and don't clutter the engine bay with wiring. I have yet to see an electronic boost controller with a boost level display anything like as easy to read as a decent analogue dial, and decent boost gauges start around 32 quid, so 32 + 35 = 67 quid, a big difference to circa 300 plus fitting and VAT. I am now often to be found removing electronic boost controllers in order to fit a bleed valve, with the customer reporting loss of flat spots and just as good boost control... mikeyb10supra
I still think you need to be careful of spikes and wild overboosting with these valves, still think the safer option is a good dual solonoid boost controller, blitz maybe and pre set to 1.2 etc and a good gauge with warning functionality, but its your call....Chris is very knowlegable and does know his stuff
merckx
I've got a good boost gauge with a warning setting, I'll be definately keeping a sharp eye on it.
