Nic
Hi Christian The correct J-spec bulbs are not available in the UK, so you should buy 9005/HB3 for the high and low beam. J-spec Headlights (early or facelift) High Beam = 9005J (fit 9005/HB3 bulbs, no modification required) Low Beam = 9006J (fit 9005/HB3 bulbs, you will need to trim the ribs on the plug in connectors, so they will fit). UK Glass Headlights High Beam = 9005/HB3 Low Beam = 9006/HB4 I'd recommend Philips or PIAA bulbs cheers
Guest Connie Paa
Christan. I had to replace one recently too on my j-spec. Bloody nightmare trying to find a place that had the exact one. The ribs will actually go in anyway even though they're slightly different the problem is the radius of the hardplastic base of the bulb is 2mm bigger on other Supra headlamps.I've tried and tested this myself:blink: I went to the main dealer and got:swearsign: for one. Then i realised and have done since is,just buy a small file kit and shave done the radius on the bulb you can get!!! It's a money and hasssel saver;) I even did this with a HID kit i got
Nic
The attached illustration shows the difference between the body diameter of the 9006J and 9006 bulbs (20mm and 22mm). The 9005 bulb is the correct size diameter so can be used in the low beam instead. The only thing you need to do is remove 2 small ribs on the bulb connector on the wiring loom, so that it can plug into the back of the bulb. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2137/90069006j5wh.jpg http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/4629/90059005j2ne.jpg

Stonkin
Thanks guys, only just had a chance to check this. It all seems a bit of a mare! but i will read what you have written again and see what i can make of it. But it seems as though i can buy the bulbs from halfords but i will have to modify them? Also Nic, when you say high beam and low beam, where do sidelights, dipped and full beam lights fit into that? Cheers,

If you have the J-spec headlights with plastic lenses yes you'll need 9005/HB3 bulbs for the high and low beams. You will need to remove a small plastic rib on the plug that connects to the low beam bulb, very easy to do with a pair of wire cutters. Havard
Good thread, total now. Who is Mr T Just get a 9005 and cut out or melt the plastic groove in the electrical connector to the bulb. The lugs will possibly need to be clipped back aswell. It's not a difficult jub just a bit fiddly..!!
