toyotatom
Bought my BRAND NEW Fields Harness from Paul Evans (Miami GT) for the list price of £200. If you look at the photos, does this look normal? Or used? After seeing someone elses I now need to know if this usable or not.
merckx
Looks like a right mess! Definately looks used.

toyotatom
Just wanted a few second opinions so I dont look like a prat when I ask where EXACTLY it came from. It certainly didnt come straight from the manufacturer!

Pete
I find the price of these things is crazy. I know the plugs are meant to be expensive and all that, but I'm sure it's only 4 hours or less work for someone to wire it all up.
JamesG
I find the price of these things is crazy. I know the plugs are meant to be expensive and all that, but I'm sure it's only 4 hours or less work for someone to wire it all up. I used to think the same thing, but now I'm not so sure. These things are very labour intensive, and you don't want to economise on your wiring! I work for a company that also makes motorsport looms. They are very expensive, but very high quality. I actually tried making something similar recently and it took me a lot longer than expected and looked well ropey once I'd finished
Ian C
Crazier price for a 2nd hand one with half the wires cut and missing chunks. I think they are wonderful inventions and willingly paid £175 inc shipping for mine from Dusty at MVP, who delivered in a week and it was in fact brand new. That's Dusty at MVP. Brand new. £175. Dusty. MVP. £175. http://www.mvpmotorsports.com Anyway, each to their own, Pete I value my "not soldering in the footwell" ability way more than £200! Been there, done that. And the hell with wiring up 120 wires onto those poxy pins. -Ian
Jake
I agree with Pete, they do seem dear for what they are. I really wanted a Fields Harness but couldn't bring myself to pay £200 for one. When a second hand one came up on here for £60 I jumped at it! By the way Tom, I'm sure it's a mistake by Paul. There's probably a very pleased guy somewhere admiring the brand new harness he got from Paul for £60 ort somesuch. I'm sure he'll sort you out fairly. Paul maybe innocent in this, but if he is not surley others have a right to know so they can avoid the same... however.. dont think this was a mistake, there was an email print off inside the package to George from Paul asking him to wrap it up nicely and gave him Toms address for postage.. is george a Greddy main dealer??? toyotatom
I will call Paul tomorrow. Im not slating him am I? No. As I said originally, I did pay for something that should be brand new, so as to avoid any unwnted electrical problems in future. If I recieve something which I and now others deem shall we say sub-standard then I think its ok for me to ask others advice on its integrity. To say it was a mistake to send this item is an issue I will ask Paul about before we start looking for a suitable tree to attach a rope to however Burt is right about the emailed note. Chipmunk
however.. dont think this was a mistake, there was an email print off inside the package to George from Paul asking him to wrap it up nicely and gave him Toms address for postage.. is george a Greddy main dealer??? Although I may look the guilty party concerned in this with Paul , I am prepared to offer a full refund back to Tom concerned through Paul/Paypal, and will sort it this weekend As it was another member on here that 'fecked me' as their handiwork shows, the harness was never actually used. A refund will be sorted no worries, I shall merely pass back the 'fecking over' back to the original member concerned. For info Burt , I'm not a Greddy main dealer , but even more pissed off now about this scenario taking into account other events concerning my naivety with certain individual club members at the time with my car, especially during the last 6 months of 2005. Chipmunk
Whats happened with your car then mate? Don't even go there - all sorted now thanks to Paul Whiffin & his crew. My apologies though Tom - I'm not here to 'screw' fellow members concerned. I trusted one as their handiwork shows and he obviously thinks highly of it. Maybe the harness is recoverable, but sod it, I'll sort out the refund and hang the original member with it

Ian C
It's recoverable, probably a couple of hours work tidying it up and some wire replacing, and it'll be a bit of a tape-fest too, but then they turn into that when used anyway... -Ian
