DamanC
Fairly simple one, but really haven’t got a clue about this sort of thing. I want to register a company (IT Related) and wanted to know the way to go about it. Also will the process highlight if a company name has already been used? From what I can see the company name I want to use has not been used in the UK by simply googleing the name Am I thinking that registering a company first is a thing to do before buying a domain name or does it not really matter? Appreciate any feedback

Gaz Walker
Ltd company or not Daman... You only have to register a Ltd or PLC company. Sole Trader or whatever and you just inform the Revenue what your doing. Gaz.
DamanC
tbh i dont know Gaz I think from what ive read a limited comapny. Im going to be a one man band simply doing IT solutions for home users and maybe in the future coperate invironments, and just wanted to do everything by the book...... Also had a search for the company name, its been taken but its stated as 'disolved' which i take it means they have folded and i can use the name? Need4Speed
You can buy them - ready to use from numerous "company formation" (stick that in Google) companies on the net. Dead easy - you can decide if you want VAT registration etc. Inland Revenue (HMRC) web site will give all sorts of advice and help http://www.hmrc.gov.uk. Other than that you need an accountant. Dragonball
Give me a shout if I can help mate - done this a fair few times... all very easy etc whether ltd or sole etc Tax and accountant costs / accountability are the key issues on your decision I decided to de-register when the tax free profit level enjoyed by ltd companies dissapeared and the charges for producing accounts required as a limited company were disproportionate to the benefits..
