pulse
Hi guys, This has only happened twice so far, once this morning, but I'm wondering if any of you have trouble with your green "slip cont" light on the dashboard staying on after spinning your wheels? This morning I fishtailed a bit down the road to work, wheels were spinning a lot.. then after I regained traction (and even when I stopped moving when I parked the car) the slip cont light stayed lit. As mentioned, this is the 2nd time it has happened. This obviously won't apply to those with traction off, or RLTC etc.. Any thoughts? -p
roscodav
Mine does this alot... not all the time, but if it gets into a serious or continued spin then it stays on. I have always put it doen to the standard traction control issues. I fugured the best was around it was to save my penies for RLTC ;-)
Supraguy
Aye, that is normal with stock TC system. If you spin excessively, it will stay on with a bad loss of power. Just press the TC off button to reset it. Oh btw.. go sign up on the RLTC group buy thread!!
Steve W2
WOW Supraguy that is a relief! I have been meaning to post about this saying that my car has no power after I have had a bit of a spin. Sounds like its normal though, phew!!
Piran
the Stock traction control has two modes, 1 if you get it slightly wrong ( a little spin) then the light flashes for a few seconds and then goes off. 2 if you get it completely wrong the TC goes into snow mode and the light stays on until you use the switch to reset it - it's this mode where it removes most of the power. Willson
Yeah, not clever when you pull out of a junction into a gap in front of a big lorry, and then it cuts all your power RLTC is the only way
Ian C
Or of course you could just switch the TC off when you start the car... -Ian
michael
Is this a J-Spec thing? My UK TC just seems to flash and orange light, cut the power and then give me it back - no green lights noticed as yet - do I need to try harder?

J-spec TC has 2 lights: Orange "Slip cont off" Green "Slip cont" when you're spinning. Your orange flashing light would be the same as our green one. Thanks for your thoughts guys, I'll have to look into RLTC seriously.. Yes, I booted the car this morning to have it fishtail, but it wasn't exactly a 'hard' kick that I gave it.. and the roads weren't overly wet. If that was its response to this morning's effort, I shudder to think what's going to happen with ice on the roads. -p
Grazer
I used to have this problem also. I solved it by using the following steps: 1 - remove the TRAC unit from passenger footwell. 2 - throw it in the bin. No orange or green lights, and no huge power losses. eyefi
where is the trac ecu in the pass footwell?
Jez sutherland
Michael, Yes - this is a J-spec thing. The UKs have a different system, which hooks into the ABS aswell. We don't have a green light- just an orange one when the trac kicks in. The (lardy - apparently!) UK trac control is much better than the J-spec - it only cuts power when the wheels are spinning (via the ABS sensor I think) and is generally pretty good IMHO. I've never had any problems with the UK traction control......but then it appears that my 2nd turbo has been shagged for a while. Maybe my opinion will change when I get it fixed! For what it is worth - I'm not a big fan of traction control anyway - very useful in bad conditions, but otherwise I think it is better to know the limits of the car and use your right foot accordingly!
