chilli
don't buy anything until you know it's definitely that, waste of money otherwise. Borrow a meter from someone. Might be worth double checking that dash wiring too, has it been started since you changed the dash?
Matti85
no i have not started it since the wirring loom change, now i regrat that i did not do that so i can exclude that, it was such a mess to have it replaced, and a jobb like that i will never do again. But i did such a carefull check when installing the new one that i cant belive that it is the issue that the pump is not working, but i will do as you say and check if it gets power to it. And what if it does not get power, what should i do then. PS:Im sorry if my question are annoying or something, i just dont have any choice right now, i cant roll out the car and call a car carrier to take it to a mechanic and let them make a diganosis, that will cost the hell out of my pocket. Money that can be put on something else on the car insted of fixing an issue like this. Thats why i had replaced my wirring loom my self, i tend to do stuff my own way even though i my knowledge on cars is low at this moment, but i like to learn =)
Matti85
Hi guys Small update. Car still not starting, but i have tested it with a full loaded batteri this time and it still the same problem, the car turns over but not starting. I have also stripped down everything in the back and saw had the pump infront of me when i let my friend try to start the car. So now im sure that i can not hear a thing from the pump. So what should i do if the cause is that it does not get any power, ? Does it have a fuse controlling it, where is that fuse then, in the engine bay or driver footwhell ? Since i changed the dashloom i should ask if there is some connection on it that deliver the power to the pump, i think it is the one that goes to the ECU on the passanger side. If so i will stripp down that side and check if it is well plugged in. I have also a dash light that comes on when i try to start the car, i have forgot if it should come on or not so here is a picture of it. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b169/Leniker/IMG_3296.jpg
jonc
Matti, not teaching you to suck eggs:) but a few simple checks to carry out. Engines require 3 elements:- Air, Fuel, spark, All timed to perfection to get a running engine! Spark. Remove the spark plugs one at a time from head but attach HT lead to plug once removed. Hold plug (with insulated pliers!!!) against a good earth on the engine. Get a mate to turn the engine over (no more then 2 seconds). If you get a strong spark then ignition system is good and move onto the fuel system. Don't forget to check all the plugs and ensure all the plugs are in good condition, clean and gaps set as recommended by mR T If spark is weak or non-existant then the problem is in the ignition system. re-fit all your spark plugs and remove Ht lead which runs from coil to disitributer cap at the disi cap end. Hold Ht lead close to a good earth again with insulated pliers and turn engine. If spark is strong then there is a problem with the disi cap, HT leads or rotor. If spark is weak then there is a problem with the ignition system Fuel. Check there is fuel in the tank! Turn on ignition without starting car. In the boot area you should hear the electronic pump turn to bring up fuel pressure then stop. If this does not occur then the pump is not running Check Fuses, 12V supply and earth wires for pump, imobilizer (these are just the basic checks;) ) If pump turns then you need to check fuel is gettin to the fuel supply rail. only way of doing this is to disconnect the supply to the rail and hold it into a container get a mate to turn on the igntion so that pump turns. you should see fuel inject into the container (BIG SAFETY ADVERT!!!!! this injects petrol from the open end into the container at a fairly high pressure) If fuel does not inject then check for fuel blockages in the suction side of the pump (fuel filter, hoses etc) It's not uncoming for cars sat over the winter period to suffer blockages through the fuel waxing, this will block the fuel filter. If fuel doe inject then re-connect everything and turn over for a couple of seconds. remove spark plugs and check for moisture on the plugs. Air Check air inlet from outside to inlet manifold is clear (no nesting animals or blocked filter) This is only very basic fault diagnosis but it may help you point in the right direction. I'm sure fellow members will add as they see fit, but remember check all the basics first before blaming the engine electronics or engine itself. Hope this helps
bedlam
Mate Go get a can of easy start and take the large pipe going onto the front of the throttle body, and spray some of the easy start into there IF the car starts then you got a fuelling problem..get someone who isnt going to rip you off to come out and sort it for you.
